Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

The Casanova kind?
Hell yes. Georgia could run the piss out of what I call the “power read” with Newman as well.
Against a 4 man front, the line blocks power with a deuce block from the playside guard and tackle on the strong side defensive tackle (often a 2T or a 3T). The weak side guard skip pulls and leads on the playside backer.
A regular power play calls for a fullback to kick the defensive end (often a 5T against 20 personnel) and the play hits up inside of the kick block. Against this scheme, defensive ends are often taught to squeeze the offensive tackle’s down block which forces the play to bounce even though it’s not really designed to do that. From there, the force player (SS/OLB) should have an angle to make a play on the ball carrier while the free safety runs the alley.
Here’s where the “power read” is different... you don’t block the defensive end with the fullback. The line action is exactly the same, but the fullback will bypass the end and make a block on the force player. The HB/TB will run sweep action to the strong side. The QB rides the HB while he reads the unblocked end. If the end squeezes, the QB gives the ball to the HB on the sweep. If the end steps outside to play the sweep, the QB pulls it and runs power off tackle.
If you mix this in with some zone and zone read concepts (which we already ran in 2019, but with no threat of the QB keeping it), our run game would be absolute hell to defend with a mobile quarterback. I’m a big fan of the buck sweep out 20, 21 or 11 personnel as well.
The best part is that when you pull guards by consistently running power, power read and buck sweep, the backers fill hard as **** when they see it and safeties start cheating their read steps and running downhill. This opens up the RPO with a skip pulling guard that gives a false read to the backers and safeties. If the backer fills, the QB pulls the ball and throws the slant. If the backer sits, the QB gives the ball to the HB and you run power. You can also run an “influence” RPO in which you pull the guard away from the primary route or (QB run) to try to get the backers flowing the wrong way.
Colleges and high schools have been running variations of this scheme out of the spread for well over a decade now. Sorry for the rant. The thought of a mobile QB got me fired up.
Go Dawgs.
Nice graphic indeed. Players getting drafted is always a great thing! And if JF goes in the first round, he’ll be the first Dawg to do so since Stafford.
Isnt the whole point of the forum to speculate and share what ifs
🤔🤔🤔
Has everyone forgotten about blaylock???
that acl is a 18-24 month rehab to get back to FULL strength.
sure you can come back in 4-6 or 8-12 months but usually better safe than sorry.
It's in Blaylock's best long term interests to wait and take a red-shirt in 2020.
I'd selfishly love for him to be on the field for UGA in 2020, but I don't think that would be the smartest move for Dom.
Zamir White tore his ACL in november and was back by the start of fall camp until he tore his other ACL because the first one wasn't fully back.
Amari Rogers for Clemson tore his ACL in spring 2019 and was able to play the entire 2019 season.
who knows how long it'll take Dom, but I think the Rogers story is the minority
247 shows Kirksey transfer to UGA from Nevada.
I’m sure Zeus will help him.
Remember he can still play in four games and still use a redshirt.
Grad transfers in will count against the2021 25 right?
Great answer
You sound like you've dealt with a lot of ACLs
Would be very surprised if Dom isn’t medically cleared to play by mid season at the very latest. ACL recovery typically takes 7-9 months and he’s got the best doctors and PT guys in the business so should be on the short end of that. Hopefully he’ll get his confidence back quick and will be back to 100% by the end of the season.
Great breakdown @ChimRicholds
