And @jbdawg03 I agree he could add weight but SDE would be out of position for his current type of play.

    As i mentioned previously,

    https://forum.dawgnation.com/discussion/6352/next-to-commit-to-the-g-2020/p1231

ive watched him play in HS. Great athlete and can pass rush. Does he want to stay in the mix and be a run stuffer, taking on SEC tackles as a DEnd ,do the dirty work ?, not from what ive seen.

247 - breakdown - “Has positional versatility. Athleticism and frame combo points towards edge pass rusher but he could be effective at linebacker or on offense at tight end long term. Plays too high and is not refined. Doesn’t seek contact out. More of a finesse athlete currently.”

Maybe Kirby can...I am just curious about the sudden shift in evaluation about him at this point especially given how his stock has dropped a bit with the recruiting services and with teams that were hot and heavy on him during last summer (Tennessee and South Carolina). We passed on other more highly rated players (BJ Ojulari and Zy Walker) who are better fits at OLB and DE, respectively...yet would pursue someone that is a tweener and who has questions about what he is position wise. I realize recruiting boards change but like the late push for Lundy, this seems like a situation where there were better options at the position available but they chose not to make the effort and stay pat only to start reaching now. This is more true with Lundy than Grimes but given how tight we are going to be with scholarships in '21, would it not be better to just pocket the scholarship rather than take a player who will only be a depth piece and you don't really have a plan for. I describe Grimes this way because it is not as though he was an unknown quantity coming his senior season (his hype was greater last year and summer)...if we wanted him, why didn't we pursue then?

@CZCashvilleDawg This could be pretty cool at UGA for 2020... the "potential" that is here for "D-Rob" to finally realize his FULL play-making ability, while we see the future out on the field with "J-Rob" and all of this on the offense, with Pickens, and Blaylock, etc.. in Georgia's PASSING game?? How cool is that???

Any word on if Cameron Kinnie is leaning our way? I thought I remember @JeffSentell saying that he probably was leaning away but can’t remember for sure. Any one have any ideas?

Sewell kinda screwed us here. We coulda went full court on Simpson, Bj or Flowe and not been in this position, if Kirby is really looking for another LB. We should make a final push for Burch or Evans and save spots for next year. I’m not even sure why we went after Ladd, hope he works out.

I think the LB talk is just speculation at this point. And how did Sewell screw us? He chose a school he thought he'd fit well at. If the staff is going hard after an linebacker at this point, then I'd have to think there is going to be unexpected attrition on the current roster for them to be doing so.

Have you watched Ladd's tape? He looks like a solid pickup for slot receiver to me. What about his tape makes you think he's not good enough?

It not Ladd it’s that we were already heavy at that position this year. If Sewell wouldn’t of shown so much interest we could of went after one the two instate guys that ended up ranked higher, same with Burch.

To utilize spread concepts we needed more bodies at WR. Also, did you see what happened this past year after we had several injuries to key players at WR? We'll have 13 scholly receivers after NSD, I imagine we see 2 guys leave and we settle in with 11 scholly WR for the 2020 season.
