How about "stay calm, but be prepared"?
It is believed that it took one infected individual to infect 700+ others on the Diamond Princess cruise ship with 7 dead so far. It has also been reported that one person in Westchester, NY has infected 50+ in his community.
Trying to prevent an individual from infecting an exponential number of people over time by restricting large gatherings for a short period of time seems like a reasonable step to take, even if you only believe it is to save Grandmas and Grandpas. I don't see panic in trying to contain it, I see common sense and empathy toward our most vulnerable.
A fraction of the population has diarrhea.....so let's cancel life.

Same **** thing with the stock market going to H when the Saudis drop oil price .... come on lower oil prices help and boost 80 % of the overall economy and hurt 20 % or so of the oil industry people .... it’s all a bunch of BS .....and remember this ..... Fear is why you people find yourselves where you are. Continue fearing things that you have no reason to fear and not respecting legit threats and you will get what you deserve. Unfortunately that will carry over to people who don't deserve it.

Conspiracy theorists believe wild ideas because they want to feel special and enlightened with some "forbidden truth". A minority opinion to set them apart from the masses of "sheeple" and make them feel educated. Only tangentially related to this thread, but related nonetheless. That's why I say we start a new conspiracy theory even crazier than those discussed here: There's no such thing as diseases, they were only "created" to get you to spend money on healthcare. Any perceived illness can be cured by eating out of your nearest garbage can, as that's where the government hides the "cure". Think about it: they put it in the one place you wouldn't think to look!

Cancelling large gatherings where thousands of people from different cities would congregate seems like a common sense approach to me. If one sick person comes there and infects 50 people, those 50 people could go back home to 50 different cities and infect 50 people each. Those people would infect more people, so on and so forth. That’s how disease spreads. Will it kill you? Maybe, maybe not. It HAS killed perfectly healthy people. Could it kill my 88 year old grandfather and 87 year old grandmother? Yes. Could it kill those with weakened immune systems such as my son? Yes. Could it overwhelm doctors, mid-levels, and nurses so that they can’t provide the necessary treatment for everyday emergencies leading to unnecessary deaths? Yes. Don’t put other people at risk because you think the CDC, WHO, and media is out to get you. Don’t panic, but also don’t be an idíot.
