Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Maybe the only state that can match Georgia for talent is showing off right now - for free and to raise funds for those hurt by the pandemic. I highly recommend.

Thanks for the heads up.
Props also to the other guitartist (sic, LOL!) Harold Kelling - he didn't play the flying Vee, but he sure had the sweetest chops and a fantastic ear for melody. Also my favorite rock bassist ever, Mike Holbrook, was in that band. Music to Eat, babe! dvv
Outkast anybody?
Love that song...didn't know they were from Georgia. We each have our own bias for our personal eras, but some of the other legends on the state painting are impressive, too (James Brown, Otis Redding, Ray Charles)
That painting/roster is impressive (!)...not the "best ever", but Collective Soul is a hidden gem on that list, too.
I vote for sevendust or collective soul
Not Migos?
Naw future..Easily
There must be some sort of harmonic convergence taking place between this thread and our football season opening with UVA, while I have a son at UVA, and this email notice just arrived in my inbox.

"B-52's and REM: Alternative Music and American Culture" with Grace Hale
Wednesday, June 17th
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ET
This is an online event
As the UVA Clubs community, we believe it is important to come together. We invite all alumni, parents, and friends to join the UVA Club of Athens, GA for an evening with author and UVA Professor Grace Hale as she discusses her newest book, "Cool Town: How Athens, Georgia, Launched Alternative Music and Changed American Culture."
Professor Hale, the Commonwealth Professor of American Studies and History, College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, "experienced the Athens scene as a student, small-business owner, and band member. Blending personal recollection with a historian's eye, she reconstructs the networks of bands, artists, and friends that drew on the things at hand to make a new art of the possible, transforming American culture along the way. In a story full of music and brimming with hope, Hale shows how an unlikely cast of characters in an unlikely place made a surprising and beautiful new world."

I don't think I can share a link for the online event, but it sounds like it might be a good book, and here's the link for that if anyone's interested.
I wanted to see Black Crowes shake your moneymaker 30th anniversary tour this summer...but i'm guessing that's been cancelled
The Black Crowes are one of my favorite bands, period. Seen them live 3x @ HoB Myrtle Beach, HiFi Buys ATL, and St. Augustine.
Southern Harmony & Musical Companion is a masterpiece and one of my top 5 favorite albums.
That's too funny...Are you going to be in Atlanta for the AnotherDawgHouseDivided Bowl?
R.E.M.
She’s a great historian and really knows that era in Athens music. She was all set to visit Athens for a book event in April but obvs that didn’t happen. She’ll definitely come whenever it’s safe to have events again, hopefully for something at the 40 Watt with a few bands.
@AnotherDawg - thanks for posting .I think this is the link - “tickets” are free.
I’m a bit of my own house divided on this one; born in C’ville, loved “The University” growing up, Dad still lives there; he pulls for Dawgs in football, I pull for the Cavs in hoops (which might change if CTC can get it together).
