Great stuff there
Man, am I late to this incredible thread - and what an inspiration it is, even if it paints me as a neophyte. I get bored easily with music, so thanks to Tex and everyone for adding all the incredible music and artists.
A few off the top of my head:
“Leaving” by Mati Nanji, one of the heaviest Strat players around, of Indigenous. First heard it on a somber episode of “Deadliest Catch.” The pain he can pull out of those 6 strings is crazy.
Saw these next two year’s back at Red Clay in Duluth, amazing sound!
Josh Oliver, “Part of Life” simple, lyrically crafted stories, some Isbell-like. Painfully shy, almost seems like he performs because he has to get it out, doesn’t necessarily want to.
Jill Andrews, “Cannibal.” Very solid band, going to age myself, but Jill had a Peggy Lipton vibe. A very sexy song, says my Bride.
I think i've watched 20 times since last night lol. It's memorizing to me.
@GradyDawg85 that first one you posted sounds like SRV re-born. 👍️
This would have been a perfect soundtrack song for True Detective 1.
It made me think of Hell of Wheels. It sounds a lot like the music from that show.
for you young whippersnappers, this B side hit: To The Aisle by the 5 Satins. Quite good back in the day when my hormones were beginning to rage.
Resurrecting this old thread because I found a new band I thought was worth sharing. I was listening to a random prog rock playlist on youtube. It was playing mostly older bands like Yes, Genesis, and Rush. But this one song came on that caught my ear. I took notice of the band's name, The Pineapple Thief. So I started looking up some of their stuff and I really enjoyed them. But what really got me was this clip of one of their concerts from 2017. To me their live playing is flawless. It's rare to find someone perform live so in synch. So enjoy!
What do you think of this rendition? This was part of the Ocean Spray social media wave:
Wow, she makes it look easy.
I enjoyed it. I wonder how much was her voice and how much was tinkering with the mix? Just curious, not at all meant to be disparaging. Again, I really liked it.
Not sure. Her name is Lannie Gardner for those interested in seeing if her career takes off.
Should get a two thumbs up from Stevie. One of the best renditions I've every heard on that song.
Not sure if this post really belongs here, but rather than start a new thread...
I'm sure most have seen the young kids playing a Zeppelin medley on xylophones. In that spirit, take a listen to "White Cliffs of Dover" on Bassoon.
Electric Bassoon.
Somehow, I think Eric Johnson would approve.

At his moment, you should be with US...feeling like we do, like you would love to, but never will again.
Wish we had "like" and "love" buttons so I could love this one. Amen brother.
