Awesome start to the 2021 World Series!!! GO BRAVES!!!
Did he ever play WR at UGA ? I mean....
Kyle Wright was added to the roster last night. After being the darling of our minor league system for a couple of years he really hasn't done anything of note. At some point the low state of our minor league system will have to be dealt with, it's near the bottom in projectable talent now.
Back to the here and now. If Wright gives the team more than mop up innings in a lost game I'll be surprized. It's hard to see winning a series that goes 5 or 6 more games with just 2 starters.
I think Smyly is our best bet to give the team 4 or 5 fairly solid innings in 1 or 2 games. He hasn't been great when asked to start or play extended innings in the past few months, but he's only really been rocked once, he gave up 5 runs over 4.2 innings back in Sep, the rest of his action of between 3.0 inings and 6.0 innings he's given up between 0 and 3 runs.
If he can go 4 to 5 innings and give up 3 or fewer runs, he can be valuable in the likely advent The Astros make a series of it.
The way it looks now with Fried going tonight and Anderson going Friday in game 3 we'll need a fill in starter ( Smyly ?) in game 4 in Atlanta, then Fried would start game 5 on 4 days rest. If we need a game 6 Anderson could start on 4 days rest or he could start game 7 on 5 days rest.
However it is laid out if the series goes 5 games we'll have to get by without Fried and Anderson for 1 game, that being game 4 in Atlanta. If we need a game 6 Anderson would probably start. If we were to lose that game, we'd need a fill in for game 7.
Just wow, @donmedeiros , that's cold.................! Funny but cold! LOL!
Go Braves!
BTW, Braves fans, Tom Glavine, a man who knows something about World Series wins, picked the Braves in six! May be a little tougher now, but I liked it!!
Go Braves!
Makes winning tonight even more important. We need wins in games where we have solid rested starters going. Of course whenever we've needed to do anything special the last couple of months this team has figured out a way.
If we can get back to Atlanta 2-0 it would take pressure off our pitching staff. I guess it was a bit lucky Morton made it far enough to help put the team in this position. Smyly might rise to the occasion and give us some critical innings.
I think he’s capable of 3-4. You have to assume their offense will dominate one game and ours another. Lots of baseball to be played. Exciting start though.
As mentioned several times by announcers in recent days. The Braves are 12-2 in the last 14 games started by Max Fried. The only 2 losses came against The Dodgers in LA. Hopefully he'll be his usual dominant self tonight. When his curve is breaking late and he is spotting a couple of his other pitches, he's about as good as anybody.
Win tonight and go home for 3 games, I'll like our chances, even with the thin corp of starting pitchers.
Cause Georgia football is the onlyest thing in the world worth discussing.
Some posters need to lighten up on this off topic nonsense. Even in a church on Sunday there are discussions that are non-Biblical in nature. So maybe take that holy stick out of your @#$%.
I think the UGA WR comment was simply a joke about how many injuries we've had at WR this year.
I was agreeing with what I believed to be sarcasm by Donm. He seemed to be poking fun at those who only discuss Georgia football on this board and take offense at posters who have other interests.
GO BRAVES !
Me too. In fact I know it was!!
Fried, c’mon man lol.
Powww ! tie game.
d'Arnaud with a lazer shot!!!!! GO BRAVES!!!!
Maybe so.
Snitker, omg. Still shifting on a double play ball, I see…
