Considering they’re from Houston in Texas? Absolutely.
What part of So Cal is Houston in?
Also, they normally play in a dome. They’re not used to this weather.
BRAVES WIN!!!!
BRAVES WIN!!!!
BRAVES WIN!!!!
Atlanta leads Houston now 2 games to 1!!!
How sweet it is!
Go Braves and Dawgs!
The northern part.
Greinke is the listed starter for Houston tomorrow. he hasn't gone over 2.1 innings in 6 weeks. My guess is we go with Smyly, but it could be any of several.
I think it's likely Fried starts game 5 at home on 4 days rest. Then if necessary Anderson will either start game 6 in Houston on 4 days rest or game 7 on 5 days rest. My guess is he'll start game 6 if we can't close the deal at home in game 5.
Right you are.
calling balls and strikes might be the most difficult officiating job in sport - up there with charge/block and PI. ball moving faster than an eye can focus is likely a blur. To decide if any part of the ball went over any part of the plate is nigh on impossible IMO. Umps are going to miss calls. Can't be helped. Part of the game.
GO HAWKS!!!!!
The absolutely worst one though was the ball called on a pitch right down the middle. The catcher was set up outside but the pitch went right down the middle. No excuse for that one. Ones that paint the edges are really hard that one was not.
If Fried starts game 5 that would be 3 days rest, something I dont believe he has ever done in his career. Not saying it cant happen, but since it won't be an elimination game I'm guessing they will give him full rest for game 6.
Ian pitching game 6 would also put him on short rest.
Whoever the bulk innings guy is today, I'm guessing Chavez gets the opener role.
It is difficult, but he was worse than his peers last night which is how he should be judged.
of which peers are you speaking ? There was only one behind the plate To whom are you comparing him? Do you have access to some sort of objective grading system that MLB uses to evaluate an ump's performance ?
I think you missed the travel day.
27th - started game 2
28th - travel day
29th - game 3
30th - game 4
31st - game 5
Even at 4 days he would be on short rest during a stressful series. The thing is if he waited to start game 6 he would have another travel day back to LA making it 6 days between starts and the team would have to find somebody to fill in for game 5.
Thinking Chavez & Smyly tonight and Wright, Minter game 5. Then Fried & Anderson if necessary.
I guessed Smyly as the starter because he has more starting experience. I won't be surprised if Chavez starts the 1st inning though. It's almost a technicality . One could start and the other still get more innings. Snitker will judge how each looks and make decisions on the fly. It's a Braves new world.
Snitker has used the combination of Chavez & Smyly several times to varying degrees of success- believe this will be the choice tonight 😀
I trust Snit's judgement, he's been at it awhile. If you think back to when Acuna went down, almost everybody thought the season was over and the team should sell off short contracts, I was pretty negative myself.
Whodathunk we'd be in this position ?
He had several head scratchers last night. Both directions. They showed it on the telecast. Very inconsistent. Being a soccer ref I’m very understanding on the difficulty, he did not have a good game. It happens.
