He who lives by the homer dies by the homer ? Bah! Humbug!
he ended up with 74 pitches in 6 innings. 12.3 pitches per inning - less than Maddux's benchmark of 13 per inning. Sweet!!
to all the couch managers out there bemoaning his pitching moves....yep.
The first order of business for management should be and likely will be re-signing unrestricted free agent Freddie Freeman. He's not a southern boy like Chipper, but he's without doubt the clubhouse leader and his swing/build should be close to impervious to age related decline through his 30s.
To all of those who gave up after game 2 and after game 4, shame on you. NEVER, EVER, GIVE UP. Never.
Anyone thinking baseball works like that don’t understand baseball and certainly hadn’t followed this team the last 3 months.
exactly. Every game is different. Players need to have a CB's ability to forget the last play. Momentum is today's starting pitcher - and the Braves had some good ones. You are right. This club can bounce back with the best of them.
The 2021 World Champion Atlanta Braves BABY!!!
I think for most fans the ''oh no here we go again'' moment came when The Dodgers won after hitting a late inning 3 run HR to wipe out a 3 run Braves lead. As history shows, they added a game winning run in the 9th.
I don't mind admitting I felt the weight of the many disappointments that night. When the team shrugged it off and dominated that elite bunch from there on I kept the faith in my way. I'm not like many, I don't have blind faith, I like to look at what's next and post about what I think.
The only point I worried about Snitker's choices was when he picked a pair of obscure pitchers based I suppose on watching them warm up to start games 4 and 5. Both quickly got lit up. Snit pulled Lee in game 4 as soon as he got in trouble. In game 5 he clearly left Davidson in too long, but every manager makes a few questionable decisions under pressure. My point in this is while I wanted Fried to start game 5 on 4 days rest, Snitker gave him 2 more days rest, we all saw the results last night. He had the most velocity on his pitches of any point this season.
With the exception of a couple of really fatalistic doom is upon us posts, fans on this board kept good perspective.
Congraulations to the entire Braves organization for this amazing accomplishment and looking forward, GO BRAVES.. 2022 ADDITION.
Starting pitching is usually critical, but as in game 4 when Davidson got chased very early, the pen can come to the rescue as well. If the pen was just average in this postseason, no way we would have won this title.
I think Snit sacrificed game 5 knowing the state of his available pitchers. If he could get an extra day off for for his primary relief group and extra day for Fried he was very confident his hitters could put runs up against Astros depleted pitching staff.
Clearly Snit outmanaged Dusty!
I like the way you think, chip!!
Go Braves and Dawgs!
Man, this brought tears to my eyes! Awesome!
As someone who has watched the Braves and been a fan since '66, and was in the stands when Mr. Aaron hit his 715th, I can only say that he was up above cheering us on this series. What an extraordinary individual and a class act! Thanks so much for sharing this post! Truly exemplifies what that man meant to the city , the Braves and how much he was revered!
Go Braves!
You know it!! Thanks for sharing!
Go Braves!
That man gets it!!!!
Go Braves and Dawgs!
