Not totally sure but i do know that the court system is backed up due to covid. Also with another person coming to light as a possible victim both sides have to investigate that as well. No timeline set as far as i know but i expect it will not be settled for a while.
Okay so why do I have to pay someone to b free if it hasn't been PROVEN that I've committed a crime. Someone out to make a little $$$ off of presumably innocent people maybe. Yeah I think so, and people who say crime doesn't pay is a liar, it pays the judge, lawyers, prosecutors, court reporters and a lot of other people.
1.5yrs minimum to reach verdict IMO

I don't think anyone on this board can say whether he's innocent or guilty. At least I can't. I know jack about the case other than what's been posted on the web.
I was really just talking about the concept of innocent until proven guilty. It seems to me our society really doesn't do that. If you are accused of certain crimes you're in a kind of limbo between the two.
The other concept I rarely see carried out today is the right to a "speedy" trial. It seems these kind of cases can drag on for months, and sometimes years. I guess "speedy" is relative.
If he's proven guilty sobeit. If he's acquitted I think he should he should receive compensation for damages.
Like I said, I don't know anything about him, his accusers, or this case. It was just a question, and an general observation, that today all you have to be is accused, and your life is pretty much broken.
Someone said, "...don't put yourself in bad situations..." I think young men absolutely need to heed that advice. Nothing is worth your life being destroyed.
I love when people start offering opinions on something when they have no clue what they are talking about. A right to a speedy trial is a right of the defendant. The defendant has to demand the speedy trial, and when a defendant demands a speedy trial in Georgia, the case must be tried during the term of court when the demand is made or during the next term of court.
However, a speedy trial may not be to the defendant's advantage. The prosecution investigated the case, gathered evidence, talked to witnesses and the other things to prepare for trial before the charges are brought. The prosecution has the advantage of having information. Also, with time, memory fades and witnesses may not remember things as clearly or may remember things differently than they originally said. These contradictions benefit the defendant because it is easier to paint the witness in a bad light. Also, with a speedy trial demand, the chance for a deal typically ends.

You're right. I'm not an attorney. I've never been involved in a criminal case. The only opinion I'm trying to convey is one of empathy. I can't imagine being accused of something I didn't do.
