If they are actually in danger of being shut out of the 12-team expansion as Mike G. suggests, then I agree wholeheartedly with your post.....that they will give in.
Question is: could the purveyors of the 12-team expansion "cave" instead and acquiesce to the Rose Bowl demands of remaining in their traditional time slot on New Year's day (if the scheduling of such could be worked out), so that their parade can also be performed, in order to have the expansion occur sooner?

Hey Montana my Bro. ask thadec if he recalls when UGA played Baker Mayfield and the Sooners ?? The vast majority of “experts” had our Dawgs losing that game Before it was played. And…..well you know. So according to thadec Kirby and our Dawgs are supposed to be just utterly terrified of USC Lol ?? One of the Many reasons that Kirby has been so successful is he has Embraced, Not Shied away from, strong non-conference rivals early in the schedule like with Clemson and Oregon. Kirby and his Coaching Staff and our Dawgs will not be Intimidated by ANY team. And he’s already beat a Heisman Winner just last year ( if my poor memory serves Baker Mayfield was to ??). So once again thadec “the troll” comments are laughable. Dude hates the Dawgs so much. He’s praying hard for a loss. Oh and WHEN we played TN, once again Before the game was actually played the “experts” and probably thadec had us Losing that one to. And……well you know. MY attitude is Now and Has been I’m gonna BELIEVE in the Dawgs I Love So Much until they Actually lose on the field of play. The “experts” in preseason had the Dawgs losing At Least one game, more than apt Two, possibly even Three !! And…….well you know. Moral of the story, NEVER count Kirby and the Dawgs out until the final score on the score board shows time has expired and they have lost !! COULD the Dawgs lose ?? Well of course they could !! 12 different teams have had the opportunity to hand them a Loss. LSU gets that opportunity this Sat. But For Me, I’m gonna Believe in our Dawgs all the way until I SEE them lose !! Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades !! What I’ve been preaching All season and much to the ire of Some that come here. The slow and sloppy starts are Scary and Frustrating, but speaking For Me even in those I have and I will Believe that Kirby and our Dawgs will find a way to win !! And they also lost to an average South Carolina team by several possessions, that negates a lucky 3 point win over Alabama in any "criteria". UT is also an average SEC team without Hooker. They were well below average vs SC with Hooker playing the majority of the game. Let the orange wearing CLOWNS whine, and cry, they deserve THAT. So being 6th or 7th in the CFP is a moot point, you ARE NOT making the CFP with 2 losses without winning a Conference Title.. plain and simple. With a CFP expansion on the horizon, I wouldn't be suprised to see a 3 loss team make it in when that happens. But, until then, you won't see a 2 loss team in the CFP.
@navydawg...Yes, I do agree with you. Bring on whatever team....as I say....Anytime, Anywhere. Kirby is recruiting to get the depth needed to compete in a tougher SEC (add TX & OK to the mix and a 9th SEC game) and a longer & harder playoff scenario. That's the only successful way forward.
I just cringe looking at next season's patsy non-conference schedule after Oklahoma had to drop out. That's going to do nothing but hurt us if we're in the playoff discussion at the end of next season.

Heard rumor. And that’s all it is that Brooks et al are trying to swap a non conference game to strengthen next years schedule. Either way. We’ll play them as they come. And if we have a chance to play in another SECC. Then the strength of schedule just may not be an issue.
I hope we don't have to play Ohio State in the first round. They scare me more than any other team out there at the moment, because they'll be on a mission should they back their way in to the playoffs.
Curious. Were you also very afraid for UGA to play Tenn prior to the actual game?? It’s fine to have a mutual respect for another team but these young men will take care of business. And if for some reason end up on the other side. NOBODY can take away 12-0
Follow up on your Bowl remarks. Many of us remember when the Peach Bowl was a secondary bowl game- heck maybe even bottom tier. Throw some Chic-fil-a money and Boom- a New Years 6 bowl. And what is a Mayo bowl. 😳. Fully agree that if .500 ball is the benchmark. Then make sure you place competing schools together. Why is a 9-3 team playing a 6-6 squad.
I'm one of those, who remember the Peach bowl being played anually between 2 teams not good enough to make a better bowl game. Back then, you didn't have 30+ bowls games like today. You actually had to have a good team to make it to 1 of the handful of bowl games back then. With the Rose, Sugar, Cotton, and Sugar bowls as the "elite" bowls for the best teams. Others were sent to the Tangerine, Peach, or other lower tier bowls. Sidenote: and back then , unlike today, stats after the regular season didn't count towards season totals.
