WATCH: QB Brock Vandagriff shares immediate plans, value of Georgia quarterbacks room
LOS ANGELES — Brock Vandagriff places more value in being a Georgia quarterback than any numbers could possible quantify, and that’s why he’s not planning on going anywhere anytime soon.
Comments
Bless him.
I think a lot of people took Kirby’s comments about QB mobility as simply the reasoning behind why Stetson won the job over JT. IMHO it was as also used to send a message to the other men in the QB room. Let’s hope one of the three steps up as the Dawgs have a real shot at a three peat.
Class move by DGD JTD.
Hopefully all 3 UGA QB's stick around and compete and push each other. On 1 hand CBeck has 3 years in the system and we've seen SBIV make significant improvement with the additional time in the system. On the other hand, BVG has 2 years in the system, has a bigger arm and is more athletic w/more mobility than CBeck.
Will be interesting to watch play out if they all stay and compete.
HOW IS HE GRADUATING ALREADY!?!
He must be doubling up on some classes, somewhere. I remember his recruitment, and, like Dad20 mentioned below, he's got 2 years in the system. Crazy that he can he can be headed toward graduation with such little time.
Incredible maturity to match the physical skills and intelligence. He'll surely be a mighty fine starter one day. Sure hope it's for Georgia. Go Dawgs!
Being on scholarship and using summer semesters and maymesters to their fullest extent, I could see how it could be done. Plus, he might have had some credits coming out of high school as well.
You gotta love guys that are in the system and are patient and appreciate the value of learning from the best and practicing against the best. BVG gets it and is willing to wait to see what happens next. Proud of him and the other DGDs that have waited and then exploded as stars on the Georgia team. It's an exciting time! GO DAWGS!
This is great news. I assume he gets admitted into a masters program at UGA following his bachelors graduation?
While it's true only one can play at a time, it took three to get through last season.
MG I have to disagree. "...with Bennett dominating the snap count to run up numbers that enabled him to become a Heisman Trophy finalist:" What a bunch of crap -- show me one game where Stetson was left in where it appeared it was to pad his numbers. In fact, most journalists have said if UGA had run up the scores in the fourth quarter with Stetson as the QB his stats would have been more competive with the other Heisman candidates. Also, happy to see that you gave JT credit for Stet's success in the championship game. Hopefully, JT will achieve your expectations with his fourth team!
Great attitude and approach. I look forward to the QB competition to come. I feel confident that regardless of the outcome we will be in good hands.
Griffith is a hack writer who has taken shots at Bennett for two seasons. His ignorance of the QB position was on full display after Georgia defeated Ohio State. His praise of CJ Stroud was laughable as he basically implied Strouds game against Georgia was the way he typically played. As if the Michigan, Maryland and Northwestern games never happened. His criticism of Bennett is equally ridiculous. He focuses on the few mistakes while downplaying Bennett's achievements. He is the worst kind of writer: biased, bitter and self serving.
Lol...you don't think they've gotten that message yet? Kirby and Monkin have only expressed that thought a couple dozen times over the last few years. People, are stubborn, though...and only hear what they want to hear.
IMO...UGA has the best QB room in the Country, going into 2023. It's all good.
The Dawgs are doing, now...what we thought they could've and should've done...in 1980, 81, 82 & 83.
What I love most about this group of Dawgs, is that they started out the year with an "almost perfect" game, against the PAC12's best...Oregon. And...they finished the year with as close to a perfect game, as I've ever seen a Dawg Team play, against the BIG12's best.
It doesn't get better than that. It was a "Mike Drop" moment in Bulldog History...and long overdue.
They came into the season and CFP, with everybody, relatively healthy. In between, they dealt with injuries, doubters and a split fanbase. Champions, persevere...and that's exactly what they've done.
I couldn't be prouder of this group of football players, students and future pillars of society. Go get em Big Red. There's another Title with your name on it, in 2023.
