There are plenty of reasons to doubt the credibility of the Tuohys. They’ve already been caught in several lies. Of course Oher being put into a conservatorship when he clearly isn’t incapacitated is also a huge red flag

I’m not accusing…I’m asking. So don’t take it the wrong way.

You believe that the Tuohy’s did a “conserveatorship” to ultimately screw Michael out of money?

Did they enter the conservatorship before or after the book/movie deal money? (I honestly don’t know that answer…but seems relevant)

Do you think it’s reasonable to believe that the Tuohy’s had very little knowledge of the differences between a conservatorship and adopting…and relied completely on the advice of their attorney. (Which is exactly what I would have done. Except I can’t imagine actually adopting a child at that age that didn’t grow up in your family. Exposing yourself to tremendous financial liability)

And it seems like…although I don’t want to make assumptions… that you completely disregard the benefits of the relationship with the Tuohy’s prior to the conservatorship and you believe the Tuohy’s were just helping for some future financial gain?

I believe they did a conservatorship for their own benefit. Whether it started small and their own ambition grew from there I have no idea.

They entered into it a few months after he moved in fall/winter of 2004. Blindside book came out in 2006 and the movie deal was finalized in 2007 shortly after.

No, getting a conservatorship is much more difficult than an adult adoption. It would be especially difficult to get one for Oher who almost certainly did not meet the criteria to even be placed into a conservatorship. You have to be mentally incapacitated to be put into one normally. The court is essentially taking away your right to autonomy. There are stringent guidelines they would need to follow to carry out the conservatorship properly as well. Giving the Tuohys power of attorney would have made more sense if they just wanted to act on his behalf in certain areas while he still retained autonomy and make it easier on themselves.

Their impact on his life is overstated. No doubt having stability for your senior year of high school in the midst of a crazy recruitment was tremendously helpful. Many other people helped him along the way though and ultimately it was his drive that got him through the rough times. Nobody can propel you to that level of success unless you work for it.

Obviously I wish everyone could have a stable home life. Oher says when his mom was sober she worked hard but that she was rarely sober. Addiction is tough. Dad sounds like a deadbeat. Are you saying that since his parents **** that other people are allowed to treat him bad?

I didn’t say anything just a question but figured you would take that route. Yeah it’s the parents fault that he was in that situation at all end of story. He should be suing them for neglect but guess what they don’t have any money. But you know who does? That’s right the couple that took you in when you were homeless. About $200 mil and not from the movie or oher contracts etc. I don’t care how talented he was if the tuohys didn’t take him in there’s no guarantee he would’ve had the support to make it like he did. It’s more likely he ends up like his parents than not with home life turmoil he had. If they did him wrong which I do not believe there’s any evidence of that yet (show me the money trail) then he deserves what he’s owed. Don’t forget that the tuohys deserve part of the money too.

Why would he sue his parents? The state removed him from their custody at 11. He's suing to have a conservatorship that the Tuohys put him in ended with a proper accounting of his finances which is something they are already obligated to provide on an annual basis as his conservators. He was already successful before living with them for his senior year and being put under an unnecessary conservatorship. Saying the Tuohys account for all of his success and kept him from becoming a poverty stricken drug addict is absurd.

Tremendously helpful, but overstated. You are desperately trying to make a point that doesn't exist.

Michael was not already successful when he moved in with the Tuohy’s his senior year. He was basically homeless going from house to house

Why sue his parents? Perhaps because he needs money. Maybe to drum up interest in his new book. Desperate people do crazy things. They already have a trust for him. Why is he only now, at age 36, contesting his conservatorship? I'm beginning to believe Mike isn't' all that smart...

Do you not think someone can be helpful while also having their contribution overstated? Seems a rather trivial concept to grasp

He was a standout athlete with a rough living situation. It’s not that uncommon. Moreno, Gurley, Owens, Jackson, etc.

They made a movie about his relationship with the Touhy's, not his birth parents. I'd say they were tremendously helpful and not overstated. Nobody would know who this guy was without the Touhys.
