Dude, give it up. Mike got paid an equal amount for the movie. That was his whole complaint. He has nothing to complain about now. There is no indication that they took advantage of him in any way. The conservatorship was just an administrative process. They never claimed any of his NFL money. How did the conservatorship financially benefit the Touhy's? It didn't. Mike isn't even claiming that they did, other than the movie money. It's a dead issue now.

How do you explain the lies about adopting Oher? I can pretty simply. It made for a better story that they knew would sell.
It’s really weird some people want to call Oher a liar based on unverified claims from the Tuohys while completely ignoring the extensively documented history of the Tuohys lies
Some additional context:
1- The Tuohys are worth like $100m
2- The total payout to the Tuohys for the movie was like $700k. They paid taxes, divided it in 4 (1/4 each for the main characters in the movie) and paid MO his 1/4th cut.
3- They never got any of his football money.
They divided it 5 ways. The family of 4 got 4/5 and Oher got 1/5.
They made a lot more money off the story outside of the movie proceeds. Including lucrative speaking fees to tell their motivational story. Where they adopted Oher. Only one problem. That was a lie.
I think the payments have been verified. Mike lied. It's very simple. The only lies you see are whether or not Mike was legally adopted or in a conservatorship. It really doesn't matter. Its terminology. They took Mike in quite literally off the streets (long before anyone knew money was to be made), got him into a good school, and maintained a close relationship with Mike throughout his NFL career. The only issue in contention was the money made off the movie. That has been cleared up. Nobody made much money from the movie.
What part was a lie? Did they not take Mike into their home, get him into a good school, and treat him like family? Adopted or conservatorship....it doesn't matter. None of this was an issue till almost 20 years later when Mike decided he wanted more money. If the Touhys were such money-grubbers wouldn't they have taken some of his $35M that he made in the NFL? They were still his conservators throughout his NFL career and legally would have had direct control over his contracts. They didn't do that. They let Mike make his money on his own. No good deed goes unpunished.

The movie was not the only contention. They’ve been using his likeness for years to make money from their charity. Also the payments aren’t verified from the reporting I’ve seen. Just that they have submitted documents to the court. We have no idea where they sent the money which was only 8k a year btw
That’s a terrible argument. Nothing is stopping oher from trying to get speaking engagements and making money. And BTW, It is their story too. How hard is it to understand? He made 34mm in NFL and blew it. So now he’s going after them. They didn’t take anything from him

Well it was Reported that his NW was $16mm a few years ago and now north of $10mm. While a lot for most at that run rate it will dwindle quickly. Certainly appears his outflows are much greater than inflows
