GO BRAVES!!!
GO BRAVES!!!
5 games back. Phillies are really struggling.
Arcia is batting .350 over the last 16 days...
Baseball is such a hard game to figure out. He couldn't hit his weight for a long minute and now he is hitting like he belongs in the HOF. Couldn't come at a better time.
Well you are right, it’s baseball. Sometimes (often?) that’s why it makes no sense what’s happening at all…. Let’s hope we see something like this again this fall!!! GO BRAVES!!!
GO BRAVES!!!
I’ve always found it worth noting that the Yankees compiled 75% of their multiple World Series championships before divisional play. Consequently, they just had to finish with the best record in their league to win the pennant and then immediately play in the World Series without going through the gauntlet of playoffs. It’s pretty easily defended to say that had they needed to play a series or two just to get to the WS, there would’ve probably been some years where they would not have gotten the opportunity to win it all. The point being, during Atlanta’s 14 year run, as well as a couple of the last few years, the Braves have had the National League best record at the season’s end, but didn’t make it to the World Series. So, how many more WS would they have won, especially during that amazing 14 year run, IF they could have simply advanced immediately to the WS based upon having the best record in the NL, and in some cases all of MLB?
Of course, I’ll go ahead and say what usually comes to most folks mind…IF my aunt had nuts, she’d be my uncle.
Excellent analysis. Have never thought of that. Baseball's playoff system certainly penalizes team with the best record - compared to the days when pitchers compiled complete games by the dozens and player knew how to bunt.
I don't know,, if we can get a wild card we have a chance. Too many holes, and Soler is not a leadoff hitter for us. Maybe behind Olson would be a good spot. He'll always be a post season legend for the Bravos, just don't like him at lead off for this gtoup.
Man, baseball is so NOT football!!!
GO BRAVES!!!!
Yeah, Harris (when he comes back) is more of a natural leadoff hitter and still has plenty of power.
It's really been a season of inconsistency - not sure why - and I'm not confident Harris' return will make a significant overall difference.
He wasnt exactly tearing the cover off the ball when he got hurt.
Man was really hoping they would finish the Marlins off. We would be sitting 4 games back. But now its 6 and a much tougher deal.
Injuries
Now Reynaldo Lopez has been put on the 15 day IL
Whatever we did to p!ss off the baseball gods, I hope they don't hold a grudge next season.
