All solid points and constructive criticism. They may have relaxed, but the Dawgs were playing good football on both sides of the ball after the first 20-25 minutes of play. They are going to hit some plays, so I don't expect perfection. We have a ton to work on, but the key for me is the grit it took to fight back from the dead in their house and at night on a huge national TV stage. Zero to 28 and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Beck threw for 439 yards with 3 TDs against a very good defense. I didn't look, but has he ever thrown for more yardage in a game? He also had some passes dropped that would have put him over 500, I suspect. Again, his four boneheaded plays were horrific, but that was his best and worst performance as a Dawg imo. 439 yards against Bama under extreme adversity—he is starting to look like what I hoped he would be.
The brightest spot in the game, imo, was the play of both of our lines. Our OL played much better, and our run D was better, too. Outside of stopping Milroe they played great. They answered a lot of key questions that have hung over their heads for the last couple of seasons. Now it's time to get to work and iron out the wrinkles and patch the holes. I'm optimistic they will get a lot better from this experience.
The slow starts pre date this season for sure.
I’m convinced that Bobo has to go. The first half schemes are worthless and Beck is underdeveloped. All on Bobo.
Alabama only had one undefeated complete season under Saban (2009) the greatest football coach in the history of the Universe.
Sometimes teams lose games. It sucks. Especially considering we have only lost to one opponent the last 4 years. But it has been known to happen.
Let me politely disagree. I think I have criticized Bobo plenty here, but I thought he had a good night except for the slow start and the turnovers. 519 yards of offense and 33 points beats most teams with our defense, including Alabama. Our defense let the team down. Beck's turnovers let the team down. None of that is Bobo's fault. My only complaint with Bobo was not putting Frazier and ETN on the field at the same time. Attack Bama like Texas did on the edges. He did a great job of attacking them up the field, though. Bobo produced this week.
I never re-watch UGA losses, but since I only saw about 50% of the game on Saturday because of WiFi issues in the Quad, I decided to watch it when I got back from Loosa.
Impressions:
On to the next one!
i thought the "slow start" was purely execution. guys were open and didnt make easy plays that they shouldve.
when is ellis robinson going to be ready to play? someone needs to be a legit corner out there who can cover these elite receivers.
Did I miss something? We're down 28-0 barely into the second qtr. We turn the ball over 4 times in the game. Still we're in position to win at the end and it's all Bobo's fault? Think I need to go back to schoolin' cause I don't understand.
I often hear about the QB's eyes? I wonder how can one see the QB's eyes on TV? And, I really wonder, what do "scared eyes" look like?
Herbstreit talked about it. I think it's more than just the eyes. I think body language and panicky actions are more of a tell.
just plain dum take is all I can say. Bobo put the ball in Our stars hands against their weakness which was dbs. And the players just didn’t execute. He did what you are supposed to do and our players just didn’t play well in the first half. And it cost us the ball game
Agree with 2-5. The dc should’ve made adjustments way quicker. Bobo called a great first half we just failed at execution.
Where's the pre-snap motion that helps to open space when multiple guys are moving at once and causing confusion in the D? We are doing very little movement and when we're not motioning someone we are set in position for upwards of 5 seconds before the ball is set. This allows the D to not only read the play, but react much quicker. At times on Saturday it look like Womack had Bobo's playbook in his hands and we were playing against 12 defenders.
The film guy:
Beck routinely locked in on primary receiver missed others that were wide opened and literally wa throwing it to the other team. He was lucky to have only 3 ints. He struggled reading the D even Herbstreit was calling.it. Honestly he looked like a deer in headlights at the coin toss. Everyone I was watching with noticed it. OC looks bad when qb makes bad decisions. And he made a bunch. OC put it in the hands of his star and we were down 28-0. We couldn’t even punch back because of way too many mistakes. It wasn’t hard to miss it was right in front of you especially if you rewatched it.
