Padres had bases loaded in the 1st inning g and didn't score either, could have been way worse. Looking forward to a healthy 2025 ands some hits with RISP. Go Braves!
I'm sure I'll look it up sometime, but I think the Braves were close to the MLB lead in RISP last year and not really anywhere near it this year. Be nice to get it back to where it belongs.
Found these for this past season:
Batting Average - .243 - 15th in the majors
Runs 704 - Edited: 14th.
ERA 3.49 - 1st
WHIP 1.20 - 3rd
On Base Percentage 11th - .309
AVERAGE WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION .224 - 27th in the majors.
Couldn't find last year's #s, but I'd bet our RISP was much better.
I was surprised by our # of runs scored. I'll have to re-check that. It doesn't feel right. Looks like we were decent in getting on base - 11th in baseball - but RISP let us down. We could get on but not find a way to score.
Me too!
Is this Adam Duvall's last season in Atlanta? He's 36 and had down year in a down season full of key team injuries, 11 home runs hitting .182 and 99 strikeouts. I always liked him. 😎
2024 Braves: RIP
2025 Braves: Rejuvenated and ready to win.
I believe it was. Unless they pick him up again, mid-season, for a veteran bat. He has made some great contributions over the years, but, as much as I like him (a lot), I think the Braves can upgrade.
Who are y'all cheering for in the NLDS?? I am a Mets and Padres fan today. I am SO hoping Philly bats go cold as ice this series….so they can eat their words.
boyo, this is a tough call for me. Padres for sure. Can't stand those big spenders from smog town. Have pretty much = hate for Phils and Mets - may have to watch the game to see who I end up pulling for - no way to know beforehand.
Let’s go Dads. Crazy game last night. LA fans are the worst
Can MLB baseball just declare both losers and advance the winner of the Dodgers and Padres! Please!!!
I know the season is over, but this was an interesting look back on the 2024 season.
Elegy for the 2024 Atlanta Braves (msn.com)
And it provided an opportunity for me to learn the difference between an elegy and a eulogy. I thought I'd caught the author in a mistake, but the mistake was mine. Elegy it is (I think).
Hitting coach is gone, Seitzer, and his assistant. Fasano gone.
I really wonder how important a hitting coach is - they seem to be fired/let go quite frequently until the next guy stays awhile and then is let go. Did Seitzer forget how to coach this past season ? Unlikely. Injuries prevented a stable batting order and sub-par seasons provided little protection for hitters. Again, I'm just wondering if hitting coaches are merely convenient scapegoats for a down season.
I think I remember, correctly, that Chipper used to go to his dad for advice when in a slump. Which raises the question, in my mind at least, is there any way to hire Chipper as the full-time hitting coach? I know he likes doing spring training and some home games, but…he gets lots of positive comments from players. Or, maybe hire his dad?
We have got to cut down on strikeouts if we are going to contend in the post season. If you are thinking about hitting the ball hard, they still go out. Actually they leave the yard more often. I think our guys are given green lights to just swing for the fences. Its a terrible approach.
