Prime Video: Theodore Roosevelt and George Washington

I just discovered these History Channel documentaries on Teddy Roosevelt and George Washington. If you are a fan of history, particularly American history, you will love these. One of those shows where there is the acting, then it cuts over to scholars who discuss what's going on (I'm sure there is an industry term for it). There is also one on Lincoln (which I will watch next) and one on Grant. Don't know if there are any others.

Really well done, unbiased, and captivating. Most people think we declared independence in 1776, fought a brief little war with England, and all was well. In fact, the Revolutionary War lasted 8 years (75-83)…and it was not as one-sided as most Americans believe. It was a very close call, and France really bailed us out. After the war ended in 1783, the nation was a huge mess until the Constitution was ratified in 1789, 12 years after declaring independence. One thing about the Roosevelt show is that you realize the political landscape hasn't changed much…

Anyway, check them out. I learned a lot.
