i think Curtis has better mechanics than Vandagriff did. Less to correct.
If he can’t read the defense and set the protections he won’t win the starter job in 2027 and likely be gone.
That's what I was seeing. Still not a commitment.
O LINE. RECEIVERS. No QB No matter how great he is can have High level success if those two units are dismal. And let’s face it last year they were that. In one game they would do pretty decent making holes for RBs but No pass protection. The next game it would the reverse of those two things. Sometimes early in games they couldn’t do either. But rarely sometimes they’d put it all together.
Good wheels or not they were letting Gunner get slaughtered vs ND !! WRs couldn’t get separation from defenders then when they did drop balls right on their numbers, didn’t seem to fight very hard for contested balls. Yall saw all this.
Flash forward to now. KS and entire program felt humiliated by last season in spite of winning the SEC. The fire and intensity in practices. showed during the spring and will continue to game one. KS was probably harder on Freshmen than he’s ever been. Veteran players were not exempt from his wrath.
I could be wrong and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time but This season is the beginning of the newly rebuilt Dawgs. Like a race car engine the Dawgs had allot of mileage on them last year. KS and staff are rebuilding them into an Elite machine !! I’m Believing that the O Line at a Minimum will be more consistent in what they do that is pass pro and open holes for the RBs.
WRs will get open and catch balls thrown right to them and Fight for contested catches. I’m Believing that because of this Gunner is gonna dilate Dawgs fans eyes like a visit to the optometrist !! Now I think this young man Curtis is done with his shopping. I think he Will indeed ink the dotted line. He has all the markings of a pedigree high quality QB. Excellent body shape for QB, Excellent HS stats, he certainly Looks to be a Winner.
But Puglisi isn’t gonna roll over and give him the spot, neither will the other QBs on the roster. He’s gonna have to get in there roll up his sleeves and Work !! Then Show KS that HE’s the best for the job. I wish ALL our QBs the very best !! But regardless of if it’s a 2 Star or a 5 Star coming out of HS what we should want is the Best Man that’s Ready to fill the position !! It’s Extremely rare ( though not impossible) for a true freshman to bypass a Good Quality Veteran QB especially in the SEC. So I don’t look for him to be The Man in his freshman year. But I Do expect to see him pushing really hard in his Sophomore year. And IF he displays that he’s Clearly better than the guy in front of him Put Him In Coach he’s ready to play !! Go Dawgs !!
Lol...with all Fields had to work with...he never won a Championship. And, hasn't been particularly successful, in the NFL.
Yet…he continues to be held up by the media, as some kind of Gold Standard to which Georgia quarterback recruits are held.
Why?...He was never particularly successful. Not, Stetson Bennett or Jake Fromm successful. Maybe Carson Beck successful...and, who wants that. I'm just sayin'.
I think Fields' biggest distinction from the other "5-Star" QB recruits...Eason & Vandergriff...is that he was MORE overrated than they were.
That's on the recruiting services and the media that feeds on it. Not Fields. He was a darned good football player. Just, not what they made him out to be. They rarely are.
he certainly accomplished more than Jake Fromm. The rating is based on a projection out of high school and where they expect the player to be drafted. Justin Fields was drafted 11th overall. Where did Jake Fromm go?
Jake made one playoff. Justin made two. One still is a starter in the league. One sits on the sidelines with a headset and a clipboard. Justin has more than lived up to his 5 star projection out of high school. His success level hasn’t been very high but there’s context involved there.
But all Georgia fans love to hate on Justin Fields for some reason.
For some reason? Here are many of them:
The kid did well at OSU. He did not do well at UGA. People still tried to call Kirby out about not playing him, though. Smart made the right choice.
i never said he didn’t? Kirby absolutely made the right decision for 2018 with Fromm over Fields. But to pretend like Fields was some crap QB because his skills didn’t fit our system (and Chaney did less than nothing to adjust) is revisionist history.
If Eason stays healthy for all of 2017, leaves after 2018, I think if Fromm and Fields are equal going in to 2019…Fields wins that job easily. Just my opinion.
“I’m 100%, 100% locked in, and I think I’m gonna stay with that,” Curtis said.
What the heck! Does one "I think" void two "100%"?
I just hope that Bobo lives up to this talented kid's expectations.
Cam Newton (even with an MVP and Super Bowl appearance) did not fulfill his potential to dominate the way he was projected. He never developed the maturity that it takes to lead an NFL team.
haha ok man
Personally...I'm not saying "Field's was a crap quarterback".
What I AM saying…is that, he wasn't as great a quarterback as some people are trying to make him out to be. Still…overrated. He's not the only one, either. The media tends to do that. As it pertains to quarterbacks...Individual Stats don't impress me....wins do. I'm just sayin'...I'd still go with Fromm.
Justin had a bunch of wins too
Not on the field at UGA…
well he wasn’t the starter. Fromm had a year head start on him and was one busted coverage away from being a champion. Fields wasn’t gonna jump that unless he was 2010 Cam Newton.
"Fields wasn’t gonna jump that unless he was 2010 Cam Newton."____Kasey
And, there it is, in a nutshell, bro. That's all I was saying. He was nobody's "Savior". Just, a very good QB. There's a lot of those, that never realize their ceiling of greatness.
I think, Fields is one of those, because of "his" decisions. Not, UGA's coaching or program.
But...if he had stayed at UGA a couple more years...who knows. He might've won the Heisman and beat LSU in 2019. Lot of would'a, could'a, should'a, with Fields. It is what it is.
However....Fields' failure at UGA, "is not" the fault of anybody in Athens. Including that abortion, of a fake punt....that, I'm not convinced, was a fake punt.
I still, wish Fields nothing but, the best. Seems like a good kid. Sorry, it didn't work out for him, in Athens. He still got the attention he wanted at OSU. Now, he has to learn the things, he didn't learn in Athens. Who am I to question his logic?. Lol
