Whew!! Bravos hold on for a 6-1 win. Bullpen, for once, help up with 2 innings of scoreless ball. Good bounce back win after the 13-0 drubbing last night. Fingers crossed for a series win tomorrow. Schwellenbach was magnificent, 3 hits and 12 K's in 7 innings. ERA nearing sub 3.0.
GO BRAVES!!!!
GO BRAVES!!!
As I sit and ponder the seemingly "lost" season, I wonder what has happened to our hitting. I thought about our hitting coaches. Not sure how much credit or blame should go to hitting coaches. We fired Kevin Seitzer, a year after we had one of the most prolific offenses ever. Why? Did he forget how to coach? Not likely. We have not hit consistently at all this year? Why not? Is it the new hitting coach? Have our player forgotten how to hit? Not likely. It's a puzzler. Then I found this:
Cal Raleigh's improbable season more proof the Braves were wrong about Kevin Seitzer
Flipping from Phillies game after they defeated Padres. Turned to Rays/Athletics, game in bottom of 8th inning. Game tied 4-4, Rays batting have runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 out. Pitching change and Sean Newcomb brought in. Sean gives up a hit to left field but the runner is thrown out at the plate. Sean faces 1 batter and gives up a hit, Athletics score 2 in top of ninth and Newcomb gets the win.

I wonder if Snit even noticed Verdugo dogging it in the 8th to allow Trout, the go ahead run, to get to second for the double? Then the Angels batted around to seal the 4-0 win. Yikes.
After another loss and falling behind Marlins how many days does Snit have left as manager?
Considering Snit's contract is up after this season, and no talks of extension, I'd imagine it will be pretty soon. Ride out the rest of the season with an interim manager, which sometimes actually ignites a team…we have seen that before. Then you'd imagine the Braves will probably be the top manager opening and ready to bring in top talent.
One can hope, anyway…
meanwhile another wasted gem by Holmes. He deserved much better. . We’ll never win with 0-7 RISP. Unacceptable.

STARTING WITH THE STRENGTH TRAINING PROGRAM!!!!
I think they need more "in between the ears" training, a la Jack Llewelyn , from back in the day. Helped Smoltz a lot.
many people have been saying the strength training regimen is the main culprit.
I don't necessarily buy into that. "many people" have yet to show what the Braves are doing in their "strength" program or to point out how it has changed since they won a world series a few years back or how it differs from any other program in MLB. S&C has come a long way in baseball and the science is there for all to see/use. I suspect there is a bit of an art to it as well. I'm not from Missouri, but show me what they are doing and why it isn't "good enough".
Just when one thought not much else could go wrong for the Braves - they took another hit - a BIG one. Spencer Schwellenbach has been put on the IL.
Schwellenbach has fractured elbow, lands on injured list
Braves might as well sell what they can and get what they can and plan for next year. At least Verdugo is no longer around to depress me.
He was the most disappointing addition in a long time.
