Messed up his chance for the cycle by hitting his 2nd triple of the night. He has been the last three seasons a much better hitter after the all-star break than before. 4 for 4 now and scoring the go ahead run in the 9th.
I see that Iglesias blew the save in the 9th & De los Santos lost it in the 10th.
…and Grant Holmes is now on the IL with "elbow tightness" and getting hit on the elbow with a line drive. They need to back up a Red Cross truck at the stadium before they play.
It's a MASH unit now.
Another lousy start by Elder with 4 lousy hits from the offense. WTH? At least, two of those hits came from Harris, who continues his run to stay on the major league team. He's up to .228 now and his OPS is at .618, up from the mid .500's. Hope he can remember what's he's doing differently now, when next season rolls around.
Braves add 38 y.o. Carlos Carrasco who was recently DFA'd by the Yankees. Along with Eric Fedde. we now have 2 more batting practice throwers. Oh, joy!!
GO BRAVES!!!
Great offense. Decent pitching. That's all it takes.
Another bad loss. Ho-hum. Bright spot? Harris and Ozzie keep pulling away from the Mendoza line - 5 hits between them. Maybe they will earn a spot on next year's team.
Now Acuna is on the DL too with an achillies issue. With the team 16 games out of 1st in the division and 9th in the NL wild card race, if it's any kind of a serious issue, do we consider putting him on a shelf for the rest of the season? I know that seems like kind of a defeatist mindset, but is it worth thinking long term?
How many of these injuries are due to the players not motivated and want out or change in overall direction?

I would absolutely shut him down for the rest of the year. Only thing is not sure if Acuna will accept that. The kid clearly wants to play.
Yeah, I know he wants to play. Competitors in general, always want to be out there. You don't want your best player to become unhappy with his situation and want out. Tough decision to make.
Clearly, his injuries are a result of the worst S&C program in MLB. It's why Matt Olson is also always hurt. Wait, he hasn't missed a game in years. Seriously, Achilles injuries cause players to miss a full season, at least in the NBA. A torn Achilles ruined Mike Soroka's career with the Braves. Of course, he has to sit, or at most, DH, at least this year. This poor kid is really injury prone. What a shame. He should/could be up there with Judge/Ohtani for the best player in the game. But, again, as we have seen over and over again, the most important ability is avail-ability.
If there is any chance his Achilles is in danger, sit the dang kid.
Snit grew that goatee and f'd up everything. If he had shaved it off before the 8th game of the season, these injuries would never have happened.
