Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

@mitch_earl "That is all that having a guy who isn't as fast as a WR or DB and can't run over people and break tackles like a power back will get you. To be a true dual threat QB good enough to win games for your team against superior defenses that you see in the SEC and playoff, you need to be good enough to start in the SEC at another position. If Gunner Stockton isn't quick and fast enough to outrun safeties like Nick Marshall at Auburn in 2013 (who initially came to UGA as a DB) or strong enough to break tackles and level linebackers like Tim Tebow at Florida then the conversation really does need to shift to whether Stockton can be a 4000 yard passer at about 65% completions with a 3 to 1 TD/INT ratio because that is the only way that he is going to win a national title at UGA."
Again pointless. MIGHT be a point IF you want/need your QB to win the game singlehandedly. But GS does not need to win any game singlehandedly. There is major value in just extending drives scrambling for a 1st down or 2 per game. Especially with the new clock rules that limit the number of possessions each team gets/game now. GS can do that.
"In college football's last five full seasons, the following quarterbacks passed for over 4,000 yards: Jayden Daniels (2023), Caleb Williams (2022), CJ Stroud (2021), Bryce Young (2021), Drake Maye (2022), Bo Nix (2023), and Michael Penix Jr. (2023).", AI.
How many of those guys won championships? WAY more to winning championships than passing for 4K yards.
"need to be good enough to start in the SEC at another position". Really? Where would SBIV start? Mac Jones?
Football is a team game. Each group needs to perform at a high level to have a chance to win a championship. Beyond that a team needs good health and luck. (OSU missing a very makeable FG at midnight). Does the UGA TEAM have all the ingredients? Every position group, including QB, will need to get a lot better to be a contender.
agreed that you don’t need a stat padder at QB. You just need someone who can come from behind if you find yourself in a shootout. Much like that game against Ohio where the FG with that kicker was not makeable. Also our DL got bear hugged on that scramble to set it up. Ball don’t lie.
