The only time CKS "demanded" anything was BEFORE he was hired. Had UGA NOT given in to CKS's pre-hire demands CKS would be coaching another team. That was when CKS had his most leverage. CKS has not "demanded" anything since then nor has he gotten some of the things he has really wanted. CKS doesn't want to play in Jacksonville every year and lose a prime recruiting weekend. Yet here UGA is still signed to play every year in Jacksonville once the Gator Bowl is renovated. CKS has been pretty meek about his "demand" to see the UGA/FU game come back to Athens.

"We CAN be a basketball school as well". Can be and is are 2 different things. UGA is a football school. UGA is NOT a bball school. That is clear based on the commitment we see to the football program compared to the bball program. The commitment is not there. MAYBE if all the dissatisfied UGA basketball fans dug deep and contributed to the UGA basketball NIL collective we could all make a difference? Oh wait, there is no UGA BASKETBALL NIL collective.

Again, who are you going to get that is better than Mike White that will take a 2nd rate program with a lack of commitment from its own school?

@Gramster UCLA got Cronin for $4M/yr. What makes you think he would come to UGA for that or that you can find someone else as good that will come to UGA now for that? UGA has shown it is not making the commitment to building the program both in facilities and NIL. Cronin is not making $4M/yr now. More like $6M/yr with incentives. UCLA basketball is not UGA basketball.

BTW, UCLA's '21 final 4 team had 3 guys currently playing in the NBA, 2 currently playing pro in the G league and 2 currently playing pro overseas.

As for Cronin and UCLA, 15-7 so far this year. Failed to make the NCAA tourney in '23/'24 and knocked out of the tourney in '24/'25 after winning 1 game. Cronin's finishes have been in steady decline since that '21 high water mark.

@SickemDawgs24 @David1 I did not see the UGA/FU game tonight but I saw somewhere that UGA's leading scorer did not play. Playing a higher ranked team w/o your leading scorer, what did you expect?

Did you expect them to win if he had played? He wouldn’t have made any difference. Georgia still would have lost.

I would have expected a better game. FU has a good team. Currently ranked #17 but they may be more like a 11-13 ranked team before it is over. Generally the higher ranked teams win in CBB. That's why you have to take or give points when you bet. If you only had to pick winners Vegas would be out of business.

I applaud your response to my post. 3 other people got set straight but shrank meekly from any further debate.

A competitive game, which it never was at any point during the game.

In response to my being “set straight “, I haven’t been “set straight” by anything. I stand by my comments because they are just that, mt opinions. I respect anyone’s opinion. We all have one. If it makes you feel better to feel you have “set me straight” then so be it. Life goes on.

No clue what you're talking about. My response was not directed at you, rather UGADad20. And the response about setting you straight was not made by me, but UGADad20 also. I agree with you 100% as a matter of fact. I dont see Mike White being the savior of the basketball team, or the program. He was let go by Florida for a reason, after watching his teams play, I now understand why he is no longer a coach in Gainesville.

No problem BornADawg, I've done the same thing myself, more than once lol

Money and extension well spent…instead of just losing toFU by 15 on the road,we get clobbered by 20 at home….yes, the improvements under mediocre Mike are riveting…another raise please.

Mediocrity in motion, my friend…if I had a dollar for every game under Mediocre Mike that I’ve said that, you and I could be sipping on a paid for bottle of top shelf single malt…

Interesting, I’ve been called a number of things, meekly was never one of them. Cronin was simply one of dozens of coaches making less than Mediocre Mike, and by the way, none of them was fired by our biggest rival for being, well, mediocre…Georgia fired Mark Fox for being mediocre and then turns around and puts all its eggs in an even bigger mediocrity basket. At least Fox only had a losing SEC record in 3 of 9 seasons, MM already has that many…but hey,it’s not my money, give him more…

Let me ask you this, would you have given Kirby an extension and raise if he had produced 4 consecutive years of mediocre football? Why should we expect less for our basketball coach? We don’t in baseball, or tennis, or women’s basketball…those coaches are given 3 years to get their style of players on board and produce a winning product. Mediocre Mike shouldn’t get a pass because Tom Crean was dumpster fire. It’s year 4, his players are in place, the Mike White product is on full display…

Hey give him a few more millions after Florida ran them off the court. Georgia has the tendency to reward coaches with more money after they fail to live up to the expectations.

Again. Still waiting. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO GET THAT IS BETTER CONSIDERING THE SCHOOL'S LACK OF COMMITMENT TO ELEVATING THE PROGRAM? Not sure how much more simply I can make it.

"Cronin is simply one of dozen's of coaches making less than Mediocre Mike". 1) Cronin makes more than White even with his 2/9/26 raise. 2) If you pay your coach the same as "dozen's of coaches" why would you expect their results to be any different than dozen's of coaches?

IT IS NOT THE COACH AS MUCH AS IT IS THE SCHOOL'S LACK OF COMMITMENT TO THE PROGRAM. We will never know if or how good White is or could be without making more of a commitment to the program.

Let me ask you this. Is UGA, nationally, making a Top 20 financial commitment to basketball? They are not. Why would you expect them to be a top 20 team w/o making the financial commitment? WHO IS THAT $4M COACH OUT THERE THAT IS GOING TO MAKE THIS UGA PROGRAM TOP 10? THERE IS NOT ONE!

You put a lot on the coach to elevate the program. UGA actually made the Big Dance last year where Cronin won exactly 1 more game than UGA. A UGA program that has been mediocre for how long? Since '96 (30 years) UGA has made the Big Dance 7 times and have only progressed past the Rd of 64 twice. That ain't on Mike White. Blaming White for the state of the UGA basketball program is lazy and biased.

UGA is 17-7 and lost to #17 FU while playing w/o its leading scorer. UGA is a young team with little margin for error. In football, according to revered CKS, it's "Jimmy's and Joe's". I guess that doesn't apply in basketball.

"Let me ask you this, would you have given Kirby an extension and raise if he had produced 4 consecutive years of mediocre football? " Apples and oranges. THAT'S the point! IF CKS had mediocre results with all of the financial commitment and investment (UGA spent $3M, $4M, $5M on football recruiting alone in the last 3 yrs) UGA has made in the program CKS should not have been retained. UGA is making little to no commitment to the basketball program.

    @BornADawg @1SICemDAWGS1 Set straight again.

@UGADad20 You want a list ? I got one for you. UGA could have hired : Bucky McMillian. Mark Byington. Chris Beard. Any of those guys would have taken the job & they have all had more success in the SEC than MW. And with the exception of A&M the level of support is no better for Byington or Beard. Hiring White was the laziest most unimaginative hire an AD could have made. Paid Fla to take him off their hands. It would literally be like if Kirby had gone to the NFL a couple years ago and we hired Sun Belt Billy. I don’t blame White for wanting to get out of Dodge ahead of the posse…but Brooks should be fired for gross negligence.

And I do agree with you that the program hasn’t been supported in the past but that’s about to change. I’ve been told UGA will have a top 5 sec nil budget next season. The downside: the person providing the cash is a big supporter of White. So no excuses next year for your boy.

And Kirby has gotten almost everything he wanted(rightfully so). Only thing he’s been denied is moving the FL game.

You do recognize that every single argument you have made fails TO JUSTIFY ANY BASKETBALL COACH BEING PAID 4M to coach in Athens (thought I would use all caps like you to emphasize a point, cool yes?) ……and yet we pay Mike White 4M to give us the same mediocrity we have enjoyed under much cheaper coaches, yes? Clemson has been paying their HBC less than that for what, 16 years now? I say if no real coach wants this job because it’s doomed to fail, let’s go cheap. I bet we can get Mark Fox back for under 1M after the disastrous results he produced out west…I hear he’s only making 200k at Ky as an assistant right now.
