In other games, the Nats crushed the Mets 14-2. The Nats had 15 hits, but also had 15 strikeouts. Sign of the times.
Among the highlights was Olson's walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the 9th. Mighty clutch.
Maybe less noticed, R. Lopez's,2 scoreless innings to close out the game. Gave the pen some rest in a tight situation. Pretty big, IMO.
A decent start by Ritchie. Only gave up 2 earned runs in 5+ innings. His throwing error helped account for the unearned run that gave them the lead. Still, a promising start.
Weiss seems to be pushing all the right buttons. Good on him.
I absolutely love watching Jansen fail. He is my most hated Brave of all time.
Side note: It has been 6 years since he played for us. It seems like 3.
Why the strong negative feelings about him? Just curious.
That was the early morning coffee talking. That being said, he never seemed to show up in high pressure situations. He seemed to blow so many important opportunities. Maybe it just seemed like it.
Edit: He had 7 blown saves in his only season with the Braves. I feel as if I was at every one of those games.
Tough loss today. Another good effort from Elder. He's been consistently good so far. Pyamps and the pen couldn't hold the lead. Still, we make Bobby Cox happy by winning the series.
On to the Rockies!!
Yeah, Strider announced Sunday's starter shortly after I posted. This way Sale only gets one day extra rest to keep him humming!
Does Austin Riley need some time on the farm (minors) to straighten things out?
Feels like every time he's up now, I feel the pitcher's spot in the order is at the plate.
All I know about hitting is what I read in Ted Williams, Charlie Lau and Tony Gwinn's books. Why don't they bring in Chipper for a week of tutoring. Riley is REALLY struggling up there.

Curious to see what the bats can do in Coors Field. Better make some hay there too. After the Rockies it's a tough trip to Seattle then LA. Then back home to play a Cubs team that is playing well.
9 game road trip just need 5 wins to make it a success.
Things wont always go the Braves way the next week or so.
I, too, am curious to see how they do on this safari. Pitching might travel well, especially if Strider can return to form. Mostly I need to see Riley return to some semblance of his former self. That would be a big help.
Riley has to make contact before any stadium can help him at this point. Wow!
I really would like to see them give Riley a two or three day vacation and play Kyle Farmer or Dubon at third base.
Maybe so. Sort of shake things up a little and get a "fresh" start for him. He's really struggling at the moment.
