…End the streak he cares deeply about, ha.
In the game as a DH would not end the streak…..@donniem makes a good suggestion!
maybe not in the "official" stat book. but ball players know the DH only plays half the game. doesn't really count the same.
Matt is a ball player, he understands this.
What an incredible performance by Braves pitching. 16 strikeouts. And all four pitchers that appeared last night have exceptional e.r.a..'s including D. Lee 1.02 Suarez .57 and Iglesias 0.00.
'Mr Blutarsky 0.0"
Our Brave's pitching is stellar for sure shutting down opponents in the late innings. However, there is growing concern for the outfield. With Acuna out for how long? Profar is never coming back. Just now Harris quad may be back earlier and if so, I would think they would not rush him too soon. Yastrzemski is listing at the plate Eli While is regressing at the outfield. So, the Braves have 2 prospects called up and the Braves are also looking at the Mariners Randy Arozarena as a possible trade. GO Braves. 😎
Not a four game series, off tomorrow before heading to LA. This game decides win or lose as the saying goes, the rubber match.
Well, first series loss of the year. Had to end sometime.
Yup. And the sooner the better. Might sound counter intuitive but sometimes a streak becomes a problem. Too much energy can be wasted preserving a streak. Would've preferred another win but it was gonna end sometime.
Mentioned at the beginning of this road trip the Braves just needed to go 5-4 to make it a success. Sitting at 4-2 now.
With the lead they have this trip has already been a success. Even if they get swept in LA.
Doesn't look like Ohtani will pitch in the series.
Could be…..but Cal Ripken had several appearances during his streak where he only pinch hit…..while nursing some nagging thing
In any event, I don’t disagree that Olson’s streak is important to him…..as @swilkerson7317 said, he has not missed a game as a Brave, ever! But I still think a DH or pinch hit game for him ever so often couldn’t hurt…..now that “the series streak” has ended! Playing the Long Game!
10-1-1 for series wins to start a season! Just short of the Mariners’ start to 2001…. when they started with 11-1 series wins! And they finished that season with 116 wins setting a record!
Bodes well, I think!
Well, the Walt Weiss experiment seems to be over. House of cards. Hire Freddie Gonzales.
Really!? Surely you are kidding…..
Just wow……
I'm pretty sure he was just joshing. Pretty sure, kinda, maybe.
How many times does a player make a Superman like play in the field and then comes in and gets his first major league hit!!
Call up Jarvis at short did just that!
Simply fantastic!
I didn't see any mention of his call-up. He wasn't even their top 30 prospects list. Where did he come from? He made like Superman on that one play. Unfortunately, he proved only human on his errant throw into the dugout, which led to a run. Good on him though. His first hit and a great play in the field in his first MLB game.
Bad omen for our best pitcher to lose the game. Fingers crossed for the next one up,.
