Why Georgia’s NIL strategy better suits its roster in 2026 than it did in 2025

Kirby is right. Nonetheless the game has been destroyed by pay to play. Simple, the biggest checkbook wins.

hate to tell you, but we only have 1 5 star, Spell! The TE is not a 5 star on any recruiting service, but a high 4. No doubt he will get the UGA bump to 5 star when they re-evaluate the rankings.

Read an article a few weeks back on ESPN that listed alumni (aka donating power) size on a national basis, and UGA was down the list. Several BIG schools are much larger than us.

Not sure Beard's "current" commitment will be his "final" commitment. Per 247 sports he still has official visits scheduled to UGA, Clemson, and Tennessee this summer. Until these players sign letters of intent I think all of the "recruiting news" is really nothing more than recruiting "rumors". As a commenter mentioned recently, it seems we do need a new word as commitment is not what most of these kids are doing. It's just a starting point for negotiating the size of the NIL bag with multiple schools they are playing!

Meanwhile, Georgia's baseball team is leading the SEC conference and ranked #5 overall in the nation.

Paying high school kids big money is out of hand. There needs to be a limit on the amount each player can receive. These kids re getting full scholarships covering tuition, board and books. Give each kid $5,000 a month for spending money. Without some sort of limit, the big money schools will be better than the rest. With a limit, recruiting gets back to normal. In the long run, that’s best for college athletics and the athletes. Yeah, I know that’s not going to happen, but it should.

if the ncaa had done something like that 50 years ago things might be different. If they do that then things are gonna go back to cars with trunks full of cash and new fellowship halls at churches. I think it’s better when it’s above the table.

LOL - I think I recognize that comment as my boomerang coming back at me. I confess that I was intentionally posting it to practically every Dawgnation article to point out that the websites writers were basically ignoring all other sports - baseball, softball, track, tennis, golf, etc. taking place at UGA during the Spring. There is a More Sports selection at the top of the page, but all we get there is an occasional article on the basketball team, and those articles were generally old news by the time we got them. We did finally get an article on Sunday about the baseball team after they clinched the day before. Better late than never, I guess! I just hope that the Dawgnation staff can up their game, because a lot of us do care about something other than football.

”We have we have traditionally paid our players junior and senior year as much as anybody at those positions. We don’t want to start [earlier] because I want you to earn it and work your way up.”

I couldn’t agree more with this approach. I would rather see Kirby use high dollar NIL money on a seasoned mature TP player then to waste a bundle up front and watch a highly touted 4 or 5* freshman/sophmore leave for more coin after being developed and prepped for a starting role for a year or two. How many more Bear Alexander’s Xavian Sorey, Damon Wilson’s, Marvin Jones would you like to see zero return on investment on?

Only a matter of time before MIT starts fielding a football team…lol
