Our history of decommits, lack of jack and an explosive O is showing. Until the money flows and the OC is replaced, we won't be given the benefit of the doubt.

There is no more real recruiting just pay to play. The greatness of college football is gone...

I posted this on another thread, but it works here as well. I am still a big follow of recruiting, but also agree with what jdatl3 posted, so watch later in the process to see our 5 stars get pressure placed on them.

    Earlier post:

Next year will be the first year without stacked 5 stars. Then the next after that will really tell if the old model will work. Super crossed-fingers that it works and we do not go back to the 8-4 years.

Lets just go with whoever shows up. There's just too many whose word means nothing. Recruiting is almost laughable now.

Imo....You can look and compare UGA's 2025 *'26 data to their 2027 data....and see that something has changed in the way calculations are being done.

Not to mention there are more candidates getting involved with NIL Recruiting....or....Buying players out of HS, if you will. Lol.

    IIn '25 and '26.…they had 2 more recruits lined up (9), than they do now (7). Yet....less 5-Stars (1). And....in the '25 cycle....fewer Top 150's (2).

Yet....in '25 & '26....they were ranked 12th and 16th respectively. Now?....they're ranked 33rd with better numbers than they had then?!

I'm not buying the manufactured hype. Show me. Lol

Talent is spreading thinner among the D1 Schools that are "Conferenced up", meaning everybody is finding their new level among High School recruiters.

Unfortunately, for all schools not named University of Georgia....they don't have Kirby Smart.

Lol....rest assured...no matter where the talent comes from in Athens....it will come with a seabag full of Character and Connection.

Grounding is as important as physical attributes. Something Kirby....and Saban before him, have employed in putting "A Team" together. Not everybody ranked in the Top 300...or 100....would succeed at UGA....imo.

It's just not, all in the Stars. Rank character....then, we'll talk. Lol

Good info Jeff. The proof will be in the pudding at the end of the playoffs this season. The winning formula has been repeated for several years now. High school recruiting, while important, doesn't carry near the same weight as it did just 5 years ago.

The biggest missing factor in all of this is who's got the best group of coaching and what stars and key talented experienced players did you retain? To me, that is where the money lies and the difference is made. All you have to do is look at Indiana and Ohio State and the last two Nattys…retaining experienced talent and pulling in experienced talent from the portal will bring you riches. We all know the Dawgs will creep up in the recruiting rankings, but that is only a small piece of the puzzle now. I think we'll be fine.

This season is a crucial test of the winning formula that has worked so far the past few seasons. Let's not waste what we've got put together for this season. I expect big things.

Amen sir. This year’s roster is loaded with names even blow-hards like McAfee won’t be able to ignore.

Apologize upfront for the long comment. Typically I’d be too self-conscious around a crowd with way more subject matter expertise than me, but appreciate any inside skinny here. I can’t be the only one that feels this way, but when did this nice-guy Kirby manifest itself?

I’m hopeful the real CKS is planning a return around mid-summer. As much as I hate the current trends, can only imagine how nauseating it is for him…

The player that threw a football into the South Carolina turf so hard after a loss they had to fill the last bit of grass there with their world famous cement. Then stared down his QB and enlightened him on how to read a zone-blitz.
The players coach that stated in a recent article his Bama defenses would beat the DOG outta teams in last year’s playoff!
The relentless recruiter that would sign KJ Green and Chance Gilbert, then dare another coach to get anywhere near.
The coach that would be so pissed a coyote snuck through the gate and stole a prized in-state legacy like DJ Jacobs, he would stroll across the prison yard, take him back, and live stream it with commentary.

    Feel better now,
    Go Dawgs!

Just an opinion....but, after reading and hearing some of DJ Jacob's comments and doing a little digging....I think UGA would be better off letting OSU, Miami or A&M have this one.

His attitude and non-commited Commitment to OSU, is a huge red flag to me.

And, his parents disposition at his commitment announcement....speaks volumes.

Either, they weren't being heard or consulted. Which indicates he is too independent minded to take "hard coaching". In other words...."he'd argue with a street sign and take the wrong road home".....as my Granny used to say. Lol

Or....they didn't believe their Son was committed to "anything" more than getting attention and flexing his value muscle. I.e., they didn't believe him. Neither do I, for that matter.

I could be wrong...but, he seems to be trying to generate a bidding war between 4 or 5 schools. Or, maybe his Agent, Lawyer and Investment Team is advising him in this "recruiting phase" of the family business.

Lol....if that's the case...he can go ahead and cross UGA off his list. That's not how Kirby rolls. Kirby Smart has a little juice, himself. He can build 10 Jacobs' with the right material...imo.

    Go get em Big Red!

Good stuff BigDawg. I’ve read similar comments about DJ Jacobs.
If true, nobody better than Kirby to apply some tough love & doses of reality. Met his Dad at a UGA-GT game not too long after his tragedy. Still get a little choked up about the conversation. It was obvious Richt was a big influence.

And noted the Granny Quote for future reference…gold!

Nobody wants to hear it, but Kirby Smart's business model just isn't working anymore. College football no longer resembles the game that was played when he was hired by UGA as head football coach. He has not changed with the times. He'll go down like Saban and Swinney while pullling in $15M a year while complaining about paying players. With his salary, we could actually buy a college football championship team. Think about it. Then add craziness like Bobo getting $2M per year? This is highway robbery. NOBODY IS INDISPENSABLE. Ever.

Not sure what the message is, but it seems like the word is out that UGA is not a fun place to spend three or four years playing college football. I may be wrong, but the decisions of so many elite recruits to spurn UGA offers speak volumes.

I don’t know much about anything. But it Used to be that Winning brought the new players. Now it’s the highest bid $$. I don’t know How that can be fixed. Especially when you have Programs, Players, Player Paid Scouts, etc. willing to Cheat. It’s a dawg gone mess. And the lazy, no ethics, NCAA could have fixed this long ago. Sad.
