The 1 thru 4 batters in the Texas line up were 0-15 with 11 strikeouts! Dominating pitching performance! Way better than I expected based on his performances in the regional and super regional. I don't no why, altitude and/or humidity or rising to the occasion, but his command and movement was impeccable!

It was complete domination from start to finish.

Sometimes a guy comes out and strikes out the side in the 1st but it's a bit of a mirage. This time it was a signal that it was gonna be a real long night for the Longhorns.

The only time there was any stress was the 5th inning and that small rally was stopped fast with a double play and another strikeout. Rally over. The other 8 innings were close to perfect with very few baserunners allowed.

Im watching this thinking can he keep this up……in the 6th…..7th…..8th….? A little fatigue shows in the 9th with the first walk but he ends it all with yet another strikeout.

    Just an unbelievable performance.

Greg Maddux once said (IIRC) his goal was to try to keep his pitch count at 13 per inning and he was a pitch to contact guy. 108 pitches in 9 innings is….12 per inning. Incredible with 15 Ks.

if Volchko has another one of those in him we got a real good shot to win it all. Offensive output was a little bit of a mirage with those errors by Texas, but their SP is really good. Impressed with how he settled down after that rough first inning. Very happy sending them to the losers bracket.

That was their ace, and when we got four in the 1st, I was plenty happy as I felt runs against him would be hard to get.

    Last matchups:

    Football UGA 35 TX 10

    Basketball UGA 91 TX 80

    Baseball UGA 7 TX 1

Longhorn fans gotta be thinking anyone but Georgia. Only consolation, they did get one SEC championship this year, Mens Tennis. 👏

This coaching staff is very good. Each player understands his role as good as any team I've seen in a while.

This team started out having fun and it has continued throughout the season and evolved into "Sour Power" making good tv in the interviews….

All of the “fun” that they’re constantly displaying (the Georgia Bulldog players) as a team with the whole crazy “sour power gang” all showing up at the postgame on the field interview, decorating both the media lady, as well as the UGA pitcher too with all kinds of the sour power treats, and baseball gloves, chains, etc, etc… just all of that being ridiculous and over the top kind of insane behavior?, (to me) that clearly indicates that this team possesses all of the necessary intangibles to eventually go on to become THE CHAMPIONS!!!!

I was impressed with some of the interviews afterwards and the maturity on the team. Volchko could have been cocky and me me me. Instead he gave everybody else credit. Talked about how he was relaxed because they had a plan to attack the Texas bats. Whatever that plan was specifically it included throwing strike one. I saw at one point he had thrown first pitch strikes to 17 of 20 batters. Pitching like that you are the one on attack and he took it to them all dam7 night.
