Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Some great suggestions in here! I'm stocking up on my books for June beach trip!
If you want a good beach read, it's hard to beat "One Second After" (2009) by William Forstchen. It hooks you on the first page and never lets go. I also liked that the plot was centered in Black Mountain, NC, where my sons did summer camp for several years.
Best sports book I've read in the past 10 years was "The Boys in the Boat" (2013) by Daniel James Brown.
I'm a little late to the jonathan franzen party, but I just finished freedom and it's the definition of the great american novel
Thank you @AnotherDawg !
I need more suggestions! I always need good stuff to read in the offseason, though my teammates on the DawgNation team write so much I have to keep up with them, too!
Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning. Listening to Audio book on YouTube. Middle aged WW 2 German soldiers relegated to police action in Poland. Too old for the Front, they are asked to do bad things to civilians, Author researches history and applies psychology to examen behavior,
on YouTube you can start by hearing the author’s lectures, That is how I learned of Robert Caro too.
@AnotherDawg Which summer camp? I taught homesteading at Rockmont 2015-2018.
My boys did Timberlake, but I know Rockmont well. So many great camps in that part of the country. Their mom did Merri-Mac when she was young.
Kudos to you for being a counselor. I played sports year round when I was young so I never got to enjoy the camp life. I'm very glad my sons were able to do it. Great experience.
Been knocking out a lot of audiobooks the last couple months. Mostly trying to hit classics I never got around to
on the road by Jack kerouac
1984 by George Orwell
moby dick by Herman Melville
the sandman by Neil gaiman (different kind of classic haha)
yesterday I started Ulysses by James Joyce
i bought 13 books plus another 12-15 from the Plus catalog that came out last week so my backlog is a BIT overwhelming lol
If it ever cools down a bit I can start back running. That’ll help help knock out the backlog
It is hot as blue blazes and down here in south Ga the mosquitoes are awful. I’m ready for cool weather too!
Also for those interested there is a Ready Player Two and a 4th book in the bobiverse series coming out. I have both on pre-order
Thanks for the tip. I loved ready player one
That's awesome. LMK if you make it thru Ulysses and what you think. I'm considering tackling Infinite Jest.
I’ve been reading so much more here in the hospital. Trying to break my addiction to my phone (emphasis on trying)...
Stoic books for my mental health...
trying to read more history. We live in an age where we need an answer immediately, complain about every little thing that happens, and think (fill in the blank) is the worst thing ever. History gives me a ton of perspective that way...
read crime novels for the brain to take a break...
and the books of Ryan Holiday have changed my life this year...
Kasey- if you're in history/non-fiction mode, one of my all time favorites in that category is Barbara Tuchman's "The Proud Tower."
