Dang. That's impressive.
Mine was when I was 13. Was swimming the 13-14 South Eastern championships in the 100 yd backstroke... as a 13 year old I really wasn't expecting anything. I was the last qualifier for the championship finals... I was a full second and a half slower than the top qualifier... which for a 100 yard swim is a huge difference in time.
But I had a great race. Nailed the start, hit my turns perfectly... everything went well. Meanwhile since I was in late 8 and the top qualifier was in lane 4... I don't think he saw me. I think he saw he was ahead of the guys in nearby lanes and started to coast at the end. You can't see outside lanes easily when doing the backstroke.
I touch the wall, and look around and realize I was near the front. Look up at the timer board... which for this pool displayed the times one at a time for a couple seconds for each lane in order of finish. It was already on the #2 finisher (lane 4). It kept going through other lanes and I'm getting confused. It's already on the 5th place finisher and I don't see my lane.... what's going on? Was I really that far down? I turn to look over at the other side of the pool where my coach was at... and he was jumping up and down and screaming at the top of his lungs... and I finally realized that I had finished first.
My dad later said the look on my face the moment I realized I had won was one of the funniest things he had ever seen. Apparently it was clear as day that I was clueless up until that point.
Only regional championship I ever won (had a few state titles here and there over the years). Finished 3rd the following year as a 14 year old.
That is awesome. I can so picture that, and how cool it would be. O'Neill was a great baseball player.
Sub 8 minute mile in jeans when I was a junior in high school.
About 4 years ago on Thanksgiving I was playing football in the south bronx with some neighborhood kids and my friend Ben who lived there. First play of the game I ran the kick off back for a touchdown. Later in the game our QB throws deep but it's off. One kid is waiting to catch it. I yell at him, he gets nervous, and the ball bounces off his chest in to my arms and I take it in for a touchdown. Everyone is rolling around on the ground laughing. Oh these kids were in middle school so the accomplishments weren't THAT impressive.
10 year old basketball. Was matched up on both ends with Derek Dooley. Dominated him.
Vince came up and congratulated me after the game.
I like that mile time in jeans.

In the early 1980's, was starting SS and pitcher for Pony League World Series champs.
Next season, as a 15yo, was called up to pitch in a 17u game facing a legion team that was full of Ga Tech, UGA, and Clemson commits. I had thrown several no-hitters over the years, was dominant for my age group, but I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of facing these older guys. All I remember coach telling me was, "mix up your pitches, keep it down, you'll be fine."
Turned out to be the first time in my life I experienced what it must be like to pitch the way the pros have to. Not trying to strike everybody out. Just trying to keep them off balance. Fastballs in and out. Backdoor breaking balls. Sliders off the plate. An occasional straight change on the outside corner.
I had total command that day and managed to throw 6 shutout innings. We held a 2-0 lead heading into the 7th. I gave up a lead off single and coach brought in Todd Jones, who was the team's ace, two years older than me. Three straight hits and we lost the game. Jones went on to pitch 16 years in the majors and recorded 319 saves. So I consider it an honor (and kinda funny) that he blew one for me.
I have a funny story that I didn’t do anything all that special in. Played rec basketball in middle school and my team beat another team that had Wayne Gretzky’s son on it. I was dumb and didn’t know who he was at the time (I’m still dumb, just not as dumb) and I went up to him and asked him for and autograph. I wasted no time, I did it as his kid was walking off the court, so I probably should have waited. Only thing I had was a napkin from my grandmas purse but he said good game and signed it.
He was being nice, I played like crap that day.
I was pretty proud of it myself. Fastest I ever ran the mile. I was always a chubby 9 minute miler through middle school and 8 minutes freshman and sophomore year. I don't know why I didn't bring shorts. I distinctly remember wearing my old sneakers (which had been retired to lawn mowing duty) since my normal school day shoes were not suitable for running
One time I was visiting a club out in LA with a friend of mine and met Prince. He challenged me to a game of basketball and I got my arse handed to me. It was straight up embarrassing. You can't guard a cat like Prince
Finishing 18th out of 90 riders in my first mtn bike race. Dang I miss being in that type of shape.
She was a 19 year old gymnast and I was only 17. I could've died that night, but dug down deep from within!
