National Peanut Butter Lover's Day

donmdonm Posts: 8,933 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Do any of you older Dawgs recall the SNL skit when "Dr. George Washington Carver" was experimenting with the peanut in his lab and before discovering peanut butter he tried various uses including using the peanut as a needle in a phonograph? I do love peanut butter and we've had discussions already about how to properly construct a PB sammich.

I believe today is the busiest National Day I've come across so far...in addition to National Peanut Butter Lover's Day, it's also a day to remember:

National Speech and Debate Education Day. Debate now seems weird to me. The debaters all talk so fast - it's like who can get the most words in and less about the ideas that are presented.

National Horse Protection Day, Who doesn't love a good mustang - like Hidalgo.

National Fruit Compote Day, Didn't bother to read the blurb so I don't even know what fruit compote is.

National Minnesota Day, I do love lakes.

National Dadgum That's Good Day,

National Dress in Blue Day (ugh! at least it's not dress in blue and orange day),

National Employee Appreciation Day. A great day to say thanks to the janitors and maintenance folks where I coach.

National Read ~Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day). We used to go read to elementary school kids every year when I coached in college. They really seeemed to enjoy it and I thought it a worthwhile endeavor.

National Pig Day

I must mention that I am grateful to pigs everywhere who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of wonderful BBQ.

Being a Peanut Butter lover sounds either kinky or perverted.

Why diss jelly ? Is it not an equal partner in the PB & J universe ?

  • BankwalkerBankwalker Posts: 3,279 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

No, it is not an equal partner. PB has many uses outside of a PB&J, plus PB is pretty much PB, whereas there are lots of kinds of jelly. PB can be mixed with honey instead of jelly, eaten alone on crackers, and nobody puts jelly on a banana sandwich.

You make a good case for PB as the superior snack food, but it still seems disrespectful to jelly. It's like a RB winning an award and not mentioning his OL.

I suspect jelly may have its own day somewhere down the line.

Peanut butter is just below bacon and sour cream on my versatile and necessary foods list.

Crunchy rules...all you creamy PB lovers probably take cold showers, you psychotics.

    She don't use Jelly

I don’t believe the crunchy stuff to be peanuts. It’s just another parmesan cheese scam.

Peanut butter on a waffle for a snack.

    Dadgum that's Good

Our horses like some dadgum peanut butter. One has a blue blanket, however none of them are much good in a debate.

When eating pb, I need a minute to get my thoughts together

Picking up my daughter from school. When may have a PB and waffle later

Peanut Butter & Co. Used to be a restaurant here in the city that only did PB sandwiches. If you can find their peanut butter in store you should def pick it up

There are several valuable business lessons in that one statement. How much did they charge for a pb sandwich in the high rent environment of NYC?

Anyone watch American Dad? They had a episode about George Washington Carver. He did not invent peanut butter.
