Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Awesome
At my age I've developed a chronic case of what I call the "Usetahs."
"I usetah do this, and I usetah do that."
Usetah travel to many exotic destinations. Been very fortunate in life as I've traveled to all 50 states, most of the Bahamas, Caribbean, and 5 continents. Usetah fly fish all year long. Would have probably had a few state records with fish on fly but released them all before they got too stressed. Usetah get all kinds of kudos for designing and remodeling custom homes. Too tired to deal with the liabilities, regulations, and permits these days. Usetah dance all nite and then some. Knees wont even let me think about that now. Usetah do a lot of big game hunts every year. Now I'm lucky if I get in one Dove shoot a season.
The things that used to be so important are now flipped. I would much rather put a friend, or newbie on a Tarpon than catch it myself. Used to pride myself in the things I was able to collect. (Art, Shotguns, Fly Reels, Wine, Bikes, etc) Now I get more enjoyment in giving and sharing them with family and friends. After hurricane Michael my wife and I decided to try and devote a few days a week volunteering our time. Can only say how rewarding and humbling our experience has been to be able to share with those in need.
All that said I certainly don't mean to come across as some Enlightened Do Gooder. Nah, I'm still as selfish and hard livin as I can be. Just not as often. ;)
and for certain there is one Usetah I will NEVER have as I Will ALWAYS Be A Dawg !!!!
I have no music talent other than I am very good at listening to it and I reverted back to vinyl-only 4 years ago and never looked back. I'm 43 and can still bench press 400 lbs which I am proud of; the weight room is the only thing I have never given up on with age. I also still have my very first car and it has a 500 HP engine in it that I built myself and it runs like a top.
Other than that I am not talented anymore. I work, they spend it.
Thanks! I'm gonna take you up on that some day!
Extra uv’s for the I work, they spend it. Understand that completely.
Thanks @texdawg for this great thread. It's very interesting to hear Dawgnation members open up and talk about themselves. So interesting.... So positive!!!! What a great way to dump a bunch of 'votes up' on our friends.
As Tex says, "Keep it coming".
It's been fun to read
Spend as much time in this as I possibly can! Love bass fishing 4th to my kids, wife and then the good Lord that allows us all to do what we love to do! Go Dawgs!
Spent a couple months in Nicaragua actually working at the Flor de Cana plant.
My most rewarding hobby is I build different swings and zip lines, using cables or whatever I can find for my kids . Their friends like to come over too! The first zip line is their favorite. Have to take a picture.
A little warm in Chinandega isn't it? 😓
I have a young champion, too. He's 24, and he's had to deal with autism, seizure disorder, scoliosis requiring a horrifically painful surgery to place rods along his spine, yet he graduated high school (mainstream) on time, takes college courses, and reads all of the science and technology text books he can get his hands on. I'm proud of his older brother and sister, too, but as far as overcoming adversity, John is the Champ!
Most of the time we don't fully realize what tough really looks like. Your John is tough.....and sounds like a champ.
I spent the majority of my life working and teaching kids with autism. Kudos to John for overcoming adversity, but kudos to you as well. It's not always easy being a parent, but add in the complexities that come with autism and how that is perceived by others... I have much respect for parents like you along with the whole family.
This is fun.
We're having fun.
I love you all & UVs for everyone!
:-)
