Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Better to have lived it than read about it.
Takes a real man to admit it. Half the poll responses are lies anyway. 😄
so you've really only read 5??
I KNEW IT!!!!
I hope that isn't true considering 60% voted 6 books or less. Why lie about hitting the halfway mark?
Exactly! 😅
I need to reread Grapes of Wrath one day, but I loved East of Eden. Grapes of Wrath was probably my favorite of all I read in high school.
About to tackle Infinite Jest here in the next week or so. Trying to psych myself up.
If you want to set a 10/1 deadline/start date on Infinite Jest I'll join you.
works for me...its 1,079 pages and i've read we are gonna have to hang in there until page 200. But I just love DFW so much I feel like I owe it to myself.
Ditto, and you'd be doing me a favor. Like running a marathon with a friend.
You guys go for it!!!
I'll just hang out here on DawgNation with a cold one and wait for yah.🍺
Quite frankly, Hunter S Thompson and the gonzo approach may be more important than people realize.
Blood Meridian and To Kill a Mockingbird are my two favorites ever. McCarthy is brilliant. I've read everything he's written.
I've only read The Road. I own Blood Meridian, after all the praise on here I'll jump on once I finish Ulysses
I'm such a slacker. Although I did read Tom Sawyer, so I think I got kind of close to one of them on the list.
Honestly I find I really struggle to stay engaged when I try to read older books. They just tend to meander around a lot more. And they leave a lot of the story unsaid. And sometimes the language used is just a different style and slang and I just have trouble following it. I read some Ray Bradbury books. Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked This Way comes. These are supposed to be great classic novels. And I found them such a chore to read. I forced my way through it thinking it'd be worth it in the end. But in the end I was like WTH are folks seeing that I am not? I guess I'm just more of a fan of a great story, and not great literature.
I went to Harry's Bar on one of my annual Six Nations Tour rugby matches. We had a table full of old ruggers when a rather drunk and boisterous Frenchman comes over to our table. Turns out he was in the French Foreign Legion and from what we all gathered seemed like a man who could back-up his words. The group got into some heated debates, but in the end it was all a good time and he ended up buying several bottles of Champagne for the table.
