- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

rugby? a man's man, I see
Yes, I played #8 my first year and then moved to Flanker. Great game, but brutal. Tournament time was the most difficult, because we played two full matches a day over a two day period.
I also played OLB in HS.
Rugby well represented by Dawgnation posters.
taking advantage of phones and YouTube, in addition to Dawgnation and various enemy intel, I listen to historical books or their authors’ lectures about their boOks.
Audiobooks I learned a lot about war Bloodlands, ordinary men, lectures by Robert Caro, and Stephen somebody from Princeton on Stalin.
Makes outdoor work out really fast
no country for old men is the definition of a perfect novel...I should read more McCarthy.
I know what you mean. But I think part of it too is when you read a book because I read Catcher in the Rye in my mid 20s and On the Road in my late 20s. If I read Catcher when I was a teenager, I might've enjoyed it more. Same with On the Road in my early 20s.
Although Truman Capote said about On the Road...it's not writing, its typing.
Rugby is a great sport. Several of my closest friends played at Georgia while I was there. On the other hand, if you asked Hemingway, there are only two sports: boxing and bull fighting. 🙂
As an English teacher, I approve this post.
What's your personal Top 10, Biff?
I have not finished Ulysses yet but I did finish Blood Meridian. That was awesome
I was an English major. I've probably read more than the 6 I remember. I was a huge JD Salinger fan back in the day. Catcher in the Rye is one of my all time favorites. I'd add The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath to the list as another classic American novel.
PG, you sly dawg....I'd have never guessed an English major. Nice!!
Yep. BA in English from Wazzu.
The Cat In The Hat and The Adventures of Garfield & Odie, were pretty good, too. 😁
Read only 5. There was much more emphasis on Shakespeare, Dickens, and other English writers at my high school. We did, however, read a couple of Hawthorne's books, a good bit of Twain, Ambrose Bierce, who I found very fascinating, and, of course, Edgar Allan Poe. On another note, we also read 'Shane' when I was in the 7th grade.
I don't know about great American novels but Bleachers by John Grisham Jr was a good 1 for fans of "Friday night lights."
