I'd forgotten about Unforgiven. It got me interested in Westerns again.
I think somebody did a few movie threads on here once upon a time, if anyone wants to dig any of them up. 😀
-------
I couldn't possibly name a single favorite film- I mean, if I did, it would have to be a true classic like the Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, etc.- but here's a short list of modern films that I love, covering a range of genres:
Almost Famous, In Bruges, Michael Clayton, Moneyball, and Sideways.
run Forest run
As a kid- Goonies and Return do the Jedi
adult
comedy - wedding crashers
action - saving private ryan
misc - dazed and confused
I'll hang up and listen
Love Jeremiah Johnson. That and Outlaw Josey Wales are my favorite 70's westerns, and nothing else is close.
The Remains Of The Day is a good movie. I'm not a fan of British upper crust manner flicks as a rule, but this movie It's a good story well told.
I'd all but lost my will to drink and kill before Unforgiven came out.
Top 3: Casablanca, The Lion in Winter, Steel Magnolias. Others of note , Open Range, Platoon, Snitch , One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Das Boat , Stagecoach and Paint your wagon.
WOW! I seriously didn't expect to see this as the 3rd post lol. What a name drop.
You need to watch Movie 43 if you haven't seen it. Done in much of the same way as KFM. Also the Dàmn Show. I series of sketches made by some local UGA kids back in the 90s.
That's mine too.
I have to add in Super Troopers though. I can watch that one any time it's on.
Comedy - Raising Arizona
Musical - The Blues Brothers
Western - The Good, the Bad, and the ügly
Fantasy/Adventure - The Lord of the Rings
Action/Superhero - The Dark Knight
But all time still got to go with the Star Wars trilogy.
For me, it has to be Blade Runner!
When it first came out, I had no idea what to expect, but it did change how I look at movies.
I can't name an all time favorite, because I have several based on different movie genres. The two movies I hate the most are Boyhood and Thin Red Line.
My favorite movie director is Stanley Kubrick.
