Regarding CBs: No doubt Washington will benefit from being in the program at UGA rather than a senior in HS. Whether he contributes meaningfully this year or not, bringing in five four-or-five-star freshman DBs (or whatever the number is) just increases our chances at having one or two real contributors in a year when we're thin in those positions.

Regarding Bennett: It's just weird how this whole thread has devolved into comparing him with Young. The article was about Bennett not making a list of 25 best returning QBs -- not whether he had a better year than the guy who won the Heisman.

Do even the Bennett critics on this thread think he's NOT one of the 25 best returning QBs entering the season? The dude was MVP in the both playoff games, ranked third in passing and ranked fourth in QBR. And he actually did play well under pressure in the biggest game of his career. I just don't see how his record doesn't get him ahead of somebody like, say, D.J. Uiagalelei. I mean, seriously, would you really prefer to have Taulia Tagovailoa or Payton Thorne leading the Dogs heading into this season?

ESPN's "tiers" of 131 college QBs out yesterday made a lot more sense that the 247 article.

It essentially puts Stetson as seventh -- alone at tier 2b. Tier 1 are Stroud, Young and Williams, and Tier 2 are Cevin Leary, Cam Rising and Tyler Van Dyke.

A bunch of SEC quarterback (although IMO weirdly not Rattler or Levis) are among those in Tier 3.

I don't think anyway can credibly say that ESPN's a bunch of homers for UGA.

Thanks for the link. It was a very good, unbiased article, that gives plenty of food-for-thought.

I agree with the author. Bennett is defying the analytical God's and they don't know what to make of it. Using the standard QB metrics...Bennett shouldn't be succeeding, especially with the young, inexperienced talent, that was his supporting cast, last year.

BUT, he is succeeding...with a National Championship, 2 MVP performances and late game heroics, to-boot. The resounding question all the experts, fans included, are asking themselves, is "How is this possible.".,

Like the guy in the article said..."Stop picking him apart and just enjoy the ride".
