They had a pretty big input on the movie script
Don't know or care much about all of this. Do find it interesting that some people can go from being an epidemiologist to NFL talent evaluator to legal expert. All in about 3 years. Very impressive. Must take a very large head to to fit all those hats.
The script of the movie, can be found here:
The only time the word "adopt", "adopted" or "adoption" appears, is as follows:
Again, you fail to answer the basic question I asked which was do you have a link to the actual Petition? You see I am an actual f-ing lawyer for going on 20 years, though in Georgia not Tennessee. I ignore most of your drivel because it's not worth my time. You repeatedly dodge simple questions in favor of insults and your spin, so again DO YOU HAVE A LINK TO THE PETITION ITSELF? I would like to read the actual petition as opposed to your self aggrandizing prattle.
Well that certainly was easy. They also have a “charitable” organization that promotes adoption and have stated they adopted Oher in their speaking engagements
lmao you literally only throw insults and half-baked arguments around and then say I’m the one throwing around drivel? I’ve dodged no questions.
I don't see the word "adopt", "adopted", or "adoption" in your quote which is the word at issue. I see "guardian", and lo and behold here is Black's Law Dictionary's definition of "conservator":
Also, Michael signed a 13 million dollar NFL contract in 2009. Are you telling me he couldn't have hired an attorney in 2011 to tell him what a conservator is? Assuming any of this misrepresentation stuff is true, which is a big IF, that sounds like 12 years of negligence on his part to just be bringing this up now. Since he clearly knew it was a conservatorship in 2011.
And there's nothing wrong with that, is there?
I highly doubt it.
So you have no link to the actual Petition? You haven't read it. All the insults and spin and basically you are going off of hearsay as to what the Petition says or doesn't say. SMH.
I do but the link is broken when I try and put it here since it’s a PDF. You’ll need to google “Michael Oher Petition document” and then click this link:
It’ll be under the news tabs at the top saying “Not an official”
Based on feels?
Speaking of scripts, I see a great opportunity for a TV show, centering around 2 attorneys who always argue with each other about almost everything - football, QB's, conservatorships, guardianships, $, Missisippi. BBQ, Bourbon.
Occasionally we might even have a court scene or two.
You left out the family part in the script which a conservatorship does not provide as well as the Tuohys publicly claiming he was adopted and starting an adoption charity. You can also never actually answer why he needed one in the first place.
Thanks.
Not unless you keep saying you love him like a son that’s part of the family
Ignorance is a virtue for some
They literally just said they still love him. I'm sure they consider him part of the family, but maybe not part of the family inheritance. The movie was mostly Hollywood BS based loosely on a true story, embellished to make great drama. That's what Hollywood does with every movie based on a true story. The issue is Mike assumes the family made a boatload of money off the movie and he didn't get anything. That will be very easy to prove. The movie studio is not going to cover for them. Conservatorship, adoption....whatever. The root issue is did the family take advantage of Mike and rip him off? Weird for Mike to wait so long to raise concerns and file a lawsuit.
And no, once a movie idea is purchased for production, outsiders (even people who the movie is about) have very little to say about the script. Once the family sold the rights to the movie, it was owned by the production company and director. That's how it works. The movie was based on a book. Did the book make Mike look like a big oaf?
good points and even if they adopted him there’s no guarantee that their will would’ve left him anything. Even blood kids get left out of wills. They’re worth over $200mm from restaurant ventures according to an article I read. Doesn’t appear they needed his money. The devil will be in the details as both sides get depositions and discovery happens. But agree there should be a good trail of funds from the movie and he should’ve gotten his fair share which can be proven if he did or not. We shall see
Children have to be specifically written out of the will to not receive anything
