    Lowly Rockies? Right you are. They have won just 12 games so far.

    But the worst team ever had to be the 1899 Cleveland Spiders who played prior to the modern era and won just 20 games. That record is safe. Hopefully for Rockies fans.

    I think they played 154, even though it was just a couple of years before the start of modern era.

    In 1875-1885, several teams played just 50 games or so.

    @MarkBoknecht is correct. 154. Which I think is the standard number of games played until 1961 when the league expanded increasing the number of games to the number we all know. 162.

    Oddly enough it was the very year Maris broke Ruth's single season mark hitting 61. Hence the asterisk. Which was unfair to Maris.

    Nice win by Braves. Elder wasn't sharp but Braves bats picked them up in the late innings, scoring 11 runs in the 6th-8th innings. Big 3-run homer by Michael "too fat" Harris and some really good situational hitting by the other "fat. out-of-shape" Braves. Good start to the series.
