Just thinking about AA's role in all of this success. One of his "under the radar" moves, to trade for Tyler Mahle, looks, from early results, to be a steal. A second consecutive great start last night. He has given up only one run over two starts, finishing 6 innings each time. If he can even come close to keeping this up, it bodes well for the post-season.
Another trade acquisition, Lane Thomas, had a HR last night.
Mauricio Dubon has been indispensable over the entire season. We'd have been nowhere near as successful without him. I'd say he's even worth a Bobo worth of value.
Don't know what they pay AA but I'd say he is worth it. Who knows what our record might be if we didn't lose all those starters to injury.
Iglesias was a little dicey last night ,….. but still got it done! Only three blown saves this season ( I know that last night was not a save situation when he came in, but still….)
41 games left… 9.5 game lead over those hapless Phillies (who would not even be in the playoffs if the season ended today!!!)
Magic number is now 32…. (for any combination of Braves wins and/or Phillies losses) …. to clinch the division !!
Tied with the Dodgers for second best record in the NL….only one fewer win and one more loss than the Brewers who are in a bit of a slide in their last ten games at 5-5!
Gotta love those Braves!!!
They do keep grinding! Magic # will soon be in the 20s.
To early for magic numbers when realistically there are 4 teams still in the race. Braves wins is the focus NOT Phillies losses just yet. Both are worth a game H2H but a win also gets 1 against everyone else.
Yep….still fun to think about it though ! Every time the Phillies lose just brings us that much closer to clinching (and not having to think about the wild card) as another game has passed in the season….. so really never too early!!
I did mention that we are tied with the Dodgers and only a game behind the Brewers for best record in the NL!
Marlins already lost today; now we need the Phillies to follow suit!
Looks like Sale going tonight. DBacks are still in the WC race should expect them to fight.
Braves are 98.1% to win the division now according to the numbers. I dont think the Phillies are looking at us anymore. They are looking at the Padres and Arizona trying to keep their neck above them.
Braves are second in the NL now. Just one loss separating the top 3. Brewers 47 losses. Braves 48. Dodgers 49.
Whoever loses that round robin will have to play the first round. Id rather the Braves skip that if possible.
Braves are hyper aware no doubt where they sit in that pecking order.
They are looking at the Padres and Arizona trying to keep their neck above them.
Yep, isn't it ironic that, assuming we beat Arizona tonight, we will be helping the Phillies who, as of yesterday, had a one-half game lead over Arizona for the third wild card spot?
Kind of makes you want to throw up a little in your mouth, doesn't it!?
Go Braves!
No luck for the Braves tonight. Pfadt is pretty good,. Threw a lot of at'em balls and cerdit to their defense. Pitcher made a lot of good hitters look bad. Get those hits tomorrow!
