Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Lol, yeah. I was fasting for some bloodwork this morning and was apparently out of it. 🤷♂️
I thought Reece was in the portal.
He is.
But I'm mainly talking about the future.
He could come back, but I don't think he is enrolled in classes.
I probably should have left him off, but I was trying to emphasize the multiplicity of our DBs in today's college football.
On my 3rd down package I'd have
DL: Travon Walker, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Jermaine Johnson
LB: Mark Webb, Kelee Ringo
DB: Eric Stokes, Tyson Campbell, Tyrique Stevenson
S: Lewis Cine, Richard LeCounte
Webb in over Dean. No thanks
Webbs a better 3rd Down LB than Dean IMO.
allows defense to be more multiple.
Can bring down a safety on the blitz late and Webb can bail to replace.
Webb has good size and is plenty physical.
This is obviously only in a 3rd & long situation.
Webb was used in the run and was at the star. I see what you are trying to say, but he is not an LB. Dean was everywhere on 2nd and 3rd as a MLB.
I'd have Webb on the field.....but not at LB.....and not over Dean.
I'm no offensive coach but I'm thinking screen game all-day against that lineup.
@dgd829 I think the point you are trying to make is a good one.
The more I think about it.....your idea isn't completely off base.
I would be curious to know what % Georgia was in base last season. I would guess less than 25%
OL vs DB out in the flat favors the DB.
Screen is getting blown up.
I 2nd this. Dean is just solid. Can run sideline to sideline, is big enough to cause TEs problems, and fast enough to run with a lot of the slot WRs. He is a sure tackler and was only a freshman! We get to see this for 2 more years and he will have a bigger role now that Tae is gone.
Back on subject, I hope we can get Rakestraw
Alabama signed 24 in each of the years 2014-2016 so they had at least 3 open spots going into the 2017 cycle. If they sign all of the 4 "commits" then it is safe to assume that they had more than 3 open in 2017.
As far as UGA is concerned in 2014 they only signed 20 but signed 28 plus Greyson Lambert in 2015 and in 2016 signed 22 plus Mo. Smith and J R Reed so theoretically had at least 2 spots available heading to 2017. In 2017 they signed 24 plus Wyatt and Demery (later withdrawn) plus Nizialek and Martin as Grads. Martin signed as a blue shirt suggesting that they had used all available scholarships for 2017 plus 1 for 2018. Total initials for 2018 were 25 made up of Martin plus the 24 signed less Wyatt plus Joseph and Walthour. Drob and Jay Hayes were added in the summer as a 2019 initials. In 2019 the 25 initials were Drob and Hayes plus the 25 signed less Walthour (2018) and Priestley (PWO). Cager and Wolf were added as Grads and charged to 2020 initials leaving 23 open for this years class.
Overall the main difference between us and Bama over the 4 years is therefore Joseph as a NQ and 6 transfers (Nizialek, Martin, Drob, Hayes, Cager and Wolf). That's 7 of the 9 and either Bama had more open spots going into 2017 and/or the 4 not signed may not all sign. Also we have 21 commits but that doesn't include Newman or Mckitty. I do see us taking 2 more 2020 "true" commits with Zirkel and McKitty being 2021 initials.
The above comparison highlights that in the long run Grad Transfers should be used sparingly.
@dgd829 FWIW
FYI The 21 under F5 is made up of 14 DL and 7 OLB. I agree that there are more DB utilized per play than DL but in my "Target" I factored in the rotation during the game as a whole. An example is that DB has 4-5 per play with 6 per game (exc Injuries) while the DL usually only has 3 per play but 6 per game due to the physical exertion at the position.
I think you should take at least 1 TE and move him to the WR.
no way you need 11 TE/RBs & only 13 WRs when 80% of offensive plays have 11 personnel.
I have it being
QB: 4
RB: 5
WR: 14
TE: 4
OL: 15
Offense: 42
DL: 13
OLB: 7
ILB: 6
DB: 16
Defense: 42
K/P: 2
Total: 86 (somebody is short 1 spot somewhere, just depends on the year)
If it was me I'd take TEs down to 3.
You aren't going to budge on your TE stance are you?
