In regard to: 3-star OT Damieon George, his commitment to Alabama and 5-star RB Zachary Evans.
So....this "package" deal stuff has been out there for awhile. From multiple sources. Will simply share here that this whole saga puzzles me. George is not an elite prospect and definitely not the type of prospects the Tide usually rolls with.
What does this say about their recruiting? What does it say about where they want to try to be with Evans?
Current 5-star OL commits for Alabama in 2020: 0
Current 4-star OL commits for Alabama in 2020: 0
Current 3-star OL commits for Alabama in 2020: 2
The Tide currently has two OL commits for 2020 and George is actually the highest rated on the board. Odd. That's with 20 (yes, 20) current commitments for this class.
Must admit this whole series of events here really puzzles me.
By the way, it must also be noted quickly here that Georgia doesn't have a single 3-star commitment in its current crop of 12 commits for 2020.
Alabama currently still has the nation's No. 2 recruiting class for 2020 at this time.
Just to keep from confusing anyone any further, Alabama did sign five OLs in 2019. Everyone of those guys were top 200 players, including three OTs who were all top 100 players.
George is currently the nation's No. 439 overall prospect for the 2020 cycle. This is not what the highest-rated OL recruit in any class looks like in Tuscaloosa.
Perplexing. To say the least.
