Yep
I agree Richie's size isn't ideal for the safety spot, but it's not so small that he can't overcome it. Reed is a very similar weight (albeit he's a couple inches taller). If LeCounte has put on 10-15 lbs this offseason, then he is a very similar size to Keanu Neal of the Falcons.
Where are you getting his lack of picking up the playbook, discipline, etc. from? Have you seen this in-game, or just going off Kirby's motivational media comments? Some forget that he was a true sophomore and first time starter last year and act as if there will be little to no improvement moving forward. I know Kirby has said some things in the media to help motivate him, but other than some missed tackles (in which he still made a ton of tackles too) LeCounte has played well.
@Teddy it wont let me quote your post
Richie is a gambler back there. He will get burned more times than not. Too often last year when he would have a chance to come up and make a tackle, he would miss bc of poor technique. Lewis Cine/Otis Reese are going to be ready to replace him should these blunders continue.
In an effort to get this thread back on track I ask this simple question. If the composite scores for Williams & Conley were flipped who would you rather have?
UGA has been known to develop lower rated guys, and especially Kirby when it comes to DBs. I for one am hoping we move on from Williams and focus on somebody with better upside and that is desperate to rock the G.
We may have a Gil Brandt talent evaluator among us. If so I apologize.
Richie is pretty solid - and will only get better.
And I'll trust Kirby regarding which safety they go after. They are pretty good talent evaluators.
So if I'm following everything - DL play was poor - mainly because Tray Scott sucks and we don't have any good players. Our pass rush ****. All that was caused by poor inside linebacker play. Tyson Campbell was awful and should be moved to safety. And now I'm informed by @dgd829 that Richie wasn't a very good safety.
Yet we still finished as one of the best defenses in the SEC and one of the better ones in the nation. And our DC gets a head coaching job.
Conclusion:
1. The SEC must be really bad for us to overcome so many poor defensive players.
2. Deandre Baker and JR Reed are the 2 greatest football players in the history of the game to be able to cover up so many poor players
3. Our fan base has some unrealistic expectations and might not know quite as much as we think.
Show me where he's gambled and gotten beat "more times than not"... I'll wait.
Also, Reese came in very sparingly and got beat bad for a TD, almost cost two touchdowns in one game (totally bit on the play action and couldn't recover on both plays). I agree Cine is going to be a great one, but he needs to learn the playbook too.
A little exert from a 24/7 article last month... "His ability to cover, according to Pro Football Focus, was excellent. According to the analytics-based site, LeCounte allowed just 0.38 yards per coverage snap in 2018. He had 22 defensive stops in coverage and quarterbacks earned a rating of just 66.4 when they targeted the Riceboro, Ga. native. His coverage grade was a stellar 84 and his overall grade was 80.6."

Let’s talk about recruiting.
Hows Ringo doing this afternoon?
Feeling like a Dawg or so I’ve heard.
Feeling like, or is???
@Teddy @texdawg
We played a very preventative defense last year and a byproduct of that was the fewest big plays allowed & also a low havoc rate. Of course analytics are going to put anyone on that defense towards the top in terms of "yards per coverage snap". This year Kirby has put an emphasis on Havoc plays, and that will put a ton of pressure on the back 5 to hold up in coverage so that you can send extra guys to rush the passer. ALL my original point was trying to illustrate is that we would be better off getting somebody with the size and mesurables of J.R Reed (Conley) that Richard LeCounte (Williams). Once again I'm not trying to bash LeCounte over and over again. I'll come back to this discussion after he whiffs on a easy tackle/lets a WR run right past him bc he doesn't know his assignment.
I saw the nerds got a 4* receiver to block for them. Also I’ve noticed more talk with Z Walker more as of recently. Is he our backup plan to Burch ?
Has Arian Smith set a date ?
This guy has big upside at both WR and DB. Great speed, long arms, big hands and a very good closing burst are all transferable tools.

Sorry to bring it back to this, but I haven't heard anything about this. How sure are we Conley will wait for us? That kid is GOOD, very raw but good. I'd love to bring him in
Dang. The GIF game on here is getting really good. But I didn't like the girl in the hammock - because for some reason I keep going back to it./s
