First off, really articulate and well spoken kid who totally understands the complexities of this decision. Love the athletic ability and now really love the kind of kid he is.
Felt like we may be the school he spoke of when mentioning where he would go to school if he didn’t play ball. Really good omen there IMO but also just me reading between the lines and could be off.
I also don’t think it takes a huge leap of faith to see we do want our TEs more involved. We have one on the field basically every play and frequently run 12 personnel, and we have given Wolf plenty of opportunities this year. Literally don’t think I’ve ever seen us run a 5 receiver set or 10 personnel but have seen TEs flexed out in the slot plenty. I do think Fromm just favors outside throws which limits TE targets as well.
Ive mentioned that smith is my #1 priority left personally but I think Theo may be my #2. Dynamic skill position players can totally change your offense. Guys that are this big and long are rarely that fast, but he seems to have really good agility and mobility as well. Really rare kind of athlete and I’m a big fan of what I’ve seen.
Not sure how this knowledge would impact Theo but over time UGA is so TEU. Many greats that we used at UGA and went NFL. Theo would help restore the natural order.
I noticed he said the field they were supposed to play on was iced over. We’re the only team in his top 4 that can offer nice weather to play in!!!😉
I hope he didn’t visit during the dog days of August.

I've said this a few times on Hedges (I think) with all these 2020 TE targets.
There's the clear polished wideout specimen athlete type, there's the raw incredible size and athlete type with good athleticism and ball skills and then there's the one who is the blend of both of those two.
My two pennies is Johnson looks to be the best of the bunch and has the highest scouting and professional ceiling. Especially taking into account all the crucial factors of the college football and college lifestyle pressure cooker that all of those young men will have to come out of.
If you think that's a knock on the other two, it is not. We're talking about three guys who are so vastly skilled and talented they will all likely come off the board in the top 45 picks of whichever NFL Draft they enter.
I took some time to look at film (Opening highlights) for the 3 top TE targets last night. Gilbert is far and away the best route runner right now with the most shiftiness in his game. Truly like a big bodied receiver. But I think Johnson can get there with some development too. Can’t speak on any blocking abilities as I didn’t watch real game film.
Ill say that while Washington doesn’t look as fluid athletically as the other two, those extra 2-3 inches of length are really obvious factors, more so than I expected. Not sure how you cover a 6’8 dude who extends his arms to make catches like he does. Thinking any of the 3 would be really big difference makers for us, and getting 2 would completely change the room overnight.

Gilbert shows the polish of working with Terrence Edwards at his academy. He is a big, fluid athlete that will be able to really play the big WR/HB role in college.
I see TJ (from what I have seen) as the most protoypical TE for a pro offense. He is an in-line grinder, and can get downfield and make the tough catches. I have not seen a lot of film on him, but he is the most like a traditional TE, which would help us soooooo much.
DW is an enigma to me. He has no comparison and is just a weapon. He is HUGE, can run, and is a mismatch literally everywhere he lines up. He is strong as heck too, and can play as a traditional TE, but then go out and run routes as a 6'8" WR. Flexed out in the slot, he would be sick. Also, in a bunch set, with him at the front, WR screens would be almost unfair.
I cannot tell you how much I would love TJ and DW to come to Athens. It would change the room, and the whole offense. It would be hard to imagine that True Freshmen would be upgrades over Seniors, but I would love to have both of them NOW. They can immediatley replace Wolf and Woerner and again, be upgrades. They would make the RUN and PASS game so much better.

DW and TJ + 11 + 2nd SEC seasons for DB and GP + a Mecole-type (or two) as a vertical threat + 3 +22 + 4+ 6 + Still bringing back 77, 55, 69, and maybe one from 66/74/79 = Game over, folks.
A whole lot of that formula can still happen.
Assuming they can match the physicality of the SEC in the run game, agreed. For every missed block we’re seeing now, there’s a great block later. Consistently inconsistent is a great descriptor for the 2019 offense.
On talent and sleepless nights caused, no question both DW and TJ would keep DCs up at night. 6’6 and 6’7 targets are insane for a QB to have.

As long as he still has a competitive spirit, I don't care if he loves football or not. If he doesn't have that competitive fire though, that'd be a hard pass for me.
He’s a competitor. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have had the outburst week 1 as the catalyst for everything that transpired.
DW allows us to not worry about our TE blocking....dudes basically a 3rd tackle. But he’s also a weapon as a matchup nightmare on a S or ILB. Really need him.
I didn't know DW was known for his blocking?
I thought he was a bigger AG but a less polished route runner.
Would disagree with that but hopefully he’s a blocking upgrade.
