He is terrible. No, we wouldn't look to make room for him.
Its obvious why any rb would be a disappointment compared to snagging a back like Evans
On Evans there’s smoke on this TAMU talk. I don’t have the answers on this one. It contradicts what was said about him and TAMU previously, and why he was all UGA for past coupe of months. So either an unofficial visit to tamu was enough to change those thoughts, or he didn’t like the convo he had with Dell following the incident, or someone is getting trolled here. Basically means, I don’t know.
As of this morning, I still haven’t heard staff cooled on him, so I still believe he’s top priority at the position. He’s supposedly back to playing this week. As I was told last night, “it has to play out.”
Evans has had too many apparent leaders. I'm not gonna pay attention to anything he does until he signs. Even if he commits to the G.
Keep us on the hook till signing day and then we are stuck without back #2?
Is this a Jimbo move?
You have to wonder if he is worth the stress vs. flipping Tank or Loyd or Chaney and being done with this.
I doubt it. Dell is probably still the best recruiter on the team, so much so that he leads on others that aren’t in his position group. He leads on those we’ve had to make up ground with previously. I think he’d filter through that. Dell is about his business and these croots love him; I think he garners too much respect to be trolled like that. This may be more of an Evans deal than anything, “squirrel!”.
I also think we have to let go of what happened with Sanders/Cain at end of last ESD. These situations are different and depth chart changes aren’t happening at the last minute. Swift is leaving, Herrien exhausts eligibility. I’m not saying this is your specific thoughts Raider, but for the board I know that thought lingers with some.
I’ll say this as well. Whatever @JeffSentell reports on these guys should be taken as gospel for this board. That said, I’m not sure why Tank took in the UGA game, but there was some passionate feelings from him on how it all went down which led to him choosing the barn. As plainly as I can say it, I’ve been led to believe au was not his first choice. When it became clear Evans was our first choice, he moved on. I don’t see it as of today. Until Sentell says this was more than taking in the best game of the previous weekend, I’d encourage everyone to drive slow here.
Lloyd isn’t as simple as is battling uscjr now. There’s the stay closer to home pull, stay committed and be the man immediately pull, or be a part of something bigger at UGA, but you weren’t the first choice either. It’s naive to think this stuff doesn’t matter to top 100 targets.
Chaney, we’ll have to go all in on to flip him. As of today, that hasn’t happened. It could happen rapidly, but it hasn’t yet.
As for the rest, it really is about who’s in and who’s out of this class? Once you consider the priority and BPA list, these other backs are at the bottom of those lists and it’s just factually objective. Just have to let this play out with Evans and see how the cookie crumbles. Good time to remind all, Dell has already secured his #1 priority target for the 20 class.
Despite Burch not coming to Athens, how are we feeling about our chances vs Clemson?
Yeah, hate when we have to talk ourselves into the 131st ranked player in the nation, who both LSU and Bama want. Absolutely hate it.
My stance on that doesn’t change. I was told that verbatim by my source and he’s earned the trust.
The kid said he'd 100% made up his mind before the visit to TAMU, so it'd be strange if that visit flipped him, especially with TAMU barely running the ball.
Auburn at A&M is a pretty great game to go to down the road, just like ND at UGA was a great game to attend for Tank (although I do think that he very much wants to be at UGA). Just because I may occasionally make the short drive to Six Flags doesn't mean it's in the same league as Disney World.
It’s certainly not my call and I’m not the one who’s getting paid but Evans to Clayton IMO is a big downgrade. Jeff and others made out like if it wasn’t Evans or bust as Dell could still circle back...if Evans is gone and the Tank/Lloyd ship has really sailed then that sucks IMO.
I’m all in on Milton, have been since Jeff started writing about him last year. But pretty much everything since the Sanders situation has been “no biggie..pick up two elite guys this cycle”. I’m sure that Clayton is a solid back but I don’t see where he’s particularly different from KMac.
As has been pointed out, he’s a top 200 player with offers...though there’s not many players in Louisiana who don’t have an offer from LSU and Bama isn’t close to RBU these days. Is a “solid back” what the Georgia Bulldogs roll with?
If this was on defense no one would question a sigh if we overnight went from the #1 LB in the country to a guy outside the top 10 who you had to look up..js. Still plenty of moving parts: I just don’t like the tea leaves of the recruiting reporters starting to hint at something like “keep an eye on player Y” after a guy falls through. If Jeff has a story on Clayton then it’s a done deal.
Yeah, I would just continue to hold out for EVANS and then have the Rolodex order of who to flip.
Remember Brian Herrien was a 3-star and non-qualifier and Kirby transformed him into a productive back, team leader and Dean’s list.
Milton’s in the fold - Zeus, Cook & McIntosh coming back - we might as well hold out for Evans - if we don’t get him we will still get someone who will be good - I have no doubts there.
