@SoFL_Dawg Thanks for the post on Evans. Really good stuff when you are able to provide it.
Is it possible Dell was down to talk to the kid and get eyes on the situation himself, rather than shut it down?
I wouldn’t blame the staff for shutting this down, just curious.
All this means to me is the ESD Kirby special is gonna be a running back this year. We should know not to doubt this staff on the trail.
You send your best recruiter to tell the recruit that the staff is not taking him and why. Not saying this happens every time with all recruits, but this was a special circumstance. That's why we have one of the best staffs in the CFB. Dell did the right thing by telling Evans in person. To not do so in person would have been a **** move in my opinion.
No way we get Bijon
Absolutely possible. As I said, in the OP, there hadn’t been a confirmation that we’ve moved on from Evans. But 3 sources, 2 of which who drive all my info and another who’s closer to the ground there all believe we’re moving on.
As more chatter emerges and different circles begin to pull out the same info, I thought it best to go ahead and get in front of this. Been sitting on this for 3 weeks. What I didn’t mention is that initially NSHS coaches tried to kick him off the team completely. It’s just an incredibly difficult thing to come back from, especially considering how UGA moved on swiftly from J. Robinson and R. Powers when things went south. You can add Leonard Manuel to that list as well. We’re no longer at a talent deficit, going to have to check all boxes for staff.
Guys, all I said was that we’re trying to earn a OV for Bijan. If he visits, we have a puncher’s chance. So far we have not earned that visit.
Yep, especially at the running back position. I hate to hear this. I hope Evans is beginning to realize the consequences of his actions, and that he will grow from it.
Thanks for sharing the info!
The way it works out if we only take 1 this year we could enter 2021 with just 2 running backs plus 2 2021 freshman which again only makes 4. That’s to thin 2 years in a row. In that scenario I’m assuming James Cook and Zeus go pro after 2020.
Evans wanted to have a surprise announcement..... we’d definitely be surprised now
😄
I don’t have a solution other than hopefully flip a guy. Not saying it’s Dell’s fault but missing on Sanders last year was excused by the fact that this year’s class was uber deep and we could get two elite guys. Next year’s class not so much apparently.
Still plenty of time for a flip but Clayton is not Evans. I DO love how @SoFL_Dawg said pretty much the same thing about Clayton as me...ie...he’s way down the list...yet he gets no DVs lol.
Sorry if I think RB recruiting is every bit as important at UGA as the defensive position players or OL we obsess about. If we missed out on Burch, Dexter, and the other top 10 DL guys on the board and everyone suddenly said that an unheralded guy out of Louisiana was just as good...there might be a few doubters...😉
Which J Robinson was this?? Our Justin Robinson is a great guy.
If the staff did in fact move on from Evans, what does our rb board look like? I’m assuming Chaney Jr is at the top of the list, but what does our top 5 look like, in order? Will the staff keep pushing to flip Chaney, as long as it takes, or do they take a commit from someone in October \November? Seems like outside of Evans, the talent gap is pretty tight for the next tier of backs.
Jammie
Lee and crisp county kid. Gotcha
