- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

wasn't Esasky a home grown farm system guy - who couldn't hit much. Way to stiff or as some would say, un-fluid hips.
Esasky was a Cincinatti Red who used to kill us in Fulton County stadium. The idea was he would be phenomenal for 81 games a year there. Of course he wouldn't be hitting against Braves pitching, and the vertigo thing killed the experiment.
Dansby's production in a word..awful.
Turner left the day to day operations to pros after a short try at being hands on. He was an excellent owner in allowing The GM to sign who he felt was needed to win though.

Thanks. Not sure with whom I'm getting Nick mixed up. We had a potential "big-bopper" come up but he couldn't handle big league pitching.
Brad Komminsk
There ya go. Mr. Stiffness himself.
Good article on Komminsk, although the ‘net is unclear on his current status. Some sources say he is the hitting coach for AAA Norfolk in the Orioles system.

Turner allowed management to sign Terry Pendleton, Greg Maddux, Fred McGriff, Marques Grissom and Otis Nixon. All were keys to that great 90s run of success.
Time Warner made an early commitment by forking over the dough to sign Kenny Lofton and Andres Galarraga. After that the few big FA signings were not very productive.
Yeah you're right, Time Warner took over the team, Turner didn't have anything to do with that company. Turner learned to let the baseball guys takeover and then the team experienced success. You named some failed contracts (which team doesn't have any failed contracts?), but with the amount of players from those teams heading to the HoF, I'd say they signed some good contracts too.
Teddy, Pendleton, Maddux, Grissom, McGriff, Nixon. The Braves made some great moves in trades and free agency Schuerholtz's and Cox's tenures as GM and manager. Ted's job was to give them the resources to make it happen.
The Nixon trade was truly amazing, albeit no one saw that level of impact coming.
In case y'all hadn't heard, Bobby Cox had a **** yesterday and is currently in the hospital. No details are being released but it doesn't sound like a great situation. If you're the praying type, I'm sure he and his family could use the support.
(Forgive me if this was already posted but I didn't see it anywhere.)
