Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

This article doesn’t look good. Reports are that Clemson told a 5 star defensive end to look elsewhere because they were full at the DE/LB positions. Well see what happens.
Thoughts @clemtown
I saw the opening head line, TN as a state only has one 5 star, Reggie Grimes, WDE (OLB in college) who is an Alabama legacy and Alabama lock. (TN fans feel they have a shot because of Pruitt)
Next closest guy is Jay Hardy who is a high end 4 star SDE across the board (who UGA is in on by the way).
Who is this mystery TN 5 star ? After reading most of the comments, sounds like the post was made by a Clemson fan wanting to toot their own horn a bit.
It’s Grimes
I figured that was the case. Sounds to me like a Clemson fan made this one up.
This seems to go against Clemson's philosophy of public commitments are the only commitments
No telling. If true it would contradict the no silent commitment philosophy, which isn’t the smartest policy anyway. Burch is trending away as well so if true, easy to speculate that Murphy and Sampah are the likely reasons they’re full with whoever else they have. They don’t overrecruit either which also has its risks/rewards.
If this happened, I’d have to assume it was more like this scenario below:
Grimes could have been looking into doing an OV there, beforehand inquired about how many spots they had available on the DL, and was told they are full. Not the same as wanting to commit and being told no.
(Side note, watched him play in person twice last season. He is def an OLB fit more so than a DE. Plays Wing back on offense to give you perspective)
Good info, that school out west supposedly has him on lock as a legacy so never paid attention to him. Besides our cup runneth over with LB talent after 20.
Yep, had that in my opening post on this subject. Much ado about nothing on this one haha
With Clemson, let's make this fairly simple. I'll put something down concrete here in this thread in case it has been said on another one of our platforms and not here.
Yeah, I don’t actually think we’re telling guys we’re “full”, I think we’ve been telling some guys, like Grimes, that we have guys higher on our board and we’re going in another direction, and basically saying no thanks. We told the same thing to CB Henry Gray, and basically stopped contacting him at all after our pursuit of Fred Davis increased. But no, don’t think we’re full. We have 2 DT commits, and look to take 5 along the DLine, and contrary to popular belief, we have no silent commits. I even double checked with a source of mine inside the program and he verified Dabo doesn’t take silents. Think we just value a few guys higher than Grimes, and maybe he took it personally
Thank you for being civil and contributing to our board in a productive manner. I really enjoy hearing other people/fans perspectives when done properly... much props.
Appreciate it man. I love talking football/recruiting with other people just as passionate about it as I am
You’re awesome, my best friend is a huge Clemson fan. We went down to Death Valley for the Louisville game the first natty year with DW4. It’s not Athens but you guys have a good time and Death Valley is very loud. Thanks for bringing class to the board from another teams perspective.
Reading that thread and I don’t care about telling the 5 star no thanks. The info about how CU recruits for college and not the NFL. That’s a good analogy maybe not the right word but this perceived notion of more with less may not be right. I’ve always said if CU starts recruiting like Bama they’ll be a dynasty too but maybe they don’t have to, which is really unique I think.
Anyone know who is visiting this weekend with Beck?
Sherman?
I'm thinking its an offensive player
Maybe Fleming or Burton? Paris Johnson?
