This is an amazing thread. There is so much incredible music that people seem to hate. I originally started out with the thought that I don't like "modern country music" as opposed to what might be called "classic country". It was pointed out that what is currently played on the radio under the title of "modern country" might not be what is really available. I've listened to numerous links that forum members have provided and found some absolutely great stuff. I guess I've got to change my listening habits. Belated thanks to all who have provided links on this thread.
My current taste in music is formed based on the time period I mentioned in my previous post. One of the reasons why Thievery Corporation is my favorite band is due to the diversity of their palate.
I used to think that, but the best I read a bio on him. I realized just how many songs he has written that I thought other songs had because they were covers. It’s crazy. Then a switch flipped in my brain on his voice from hate to love. Odd, but now I’m a big fan. The guy is a genius writer.
IMHO you are correct. I think he'll be looked back upon as one of the GOATs.
Florida's fight song.
Y’all are gonna hate me for this partly because I’m breaking the rules. I dislike most country. I feel that my reasoning, however, is sound. Old country is so simplistic and predictable that it is boring to me. Modern country is just **** to me. (Please don’t take offense; these are just opinions!) I got a minor in music performance at UGA and one of my favorite genres is opera. But when your education is based in music you hear things differently. It’s a blessing and a curse.
It's alright @allyw. I was going to say NASCAR was my least favorite sport on that other thread but I was afraid it would start an online bar fight. We can't all love everything.
There is no need to explain preference. It just is. Why do some like chocolate ice cream and others like country music? Why do some people like opera and others like songs with 3 chords in them? In the long run, it really doesn't matter.
Say it ain't so @AnotherDawg . Just kidding. I went awhile watching almost every race mainly because of a fantasy race league. Hardly watch it now. Donm is right. We are all unique . Makes the world more interesting
THANK YOU!! I don’t understand how someone can genuinely enjoy his music, or any reggae at all actually.
I love the rhythm of reggae and it's apparent simplicity. BM's greatest hits gets a lot of play at my house.
I also hate Dave Matthews Band. There I said it. And never listened to one second of Widespread Panic
Just had to ask. Are you using sarcasm font? Only asking cause you say never listened, so ......
If I did, I didn't know it. I'm very anti-jam band regardless of where they are from
Give me late 60's and 70's rock and Southern rock and you guys are welcome to everything else.
