Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

International Bat Appreciation Day
No. not Ronald JR.s bat but the flying rodents type bats. Insectivores, bats can eat up to 1000 mosquitos in an hour. The largest bats can weigh over 4 lbs and have a wingspan of over 5 feet. They are very clean animals, grooming themselves almost continually. If mosquitos are a problem for you, consider building a bat house.
It's also National Haiku Day, those little 17 syllable poems, although in America we often change the # of syllables. Something like:
Jacksonville Final
Lizards lose once again
Mullen's mouth shut

Haiku in English is usually lines of 5 7 5 syllables. Based on what you said, I read that the Japanese count "sounds", but in English a sound is almost always = syllable. In that case, I suggest:
Jacksonville Final
Lizards lose once again wee
Mullen's mouth shut now
As to bat houses, some links:
Confession: Have had a bat box for many years - never put it up.
We have a bat box along with the bat that lives in it and has for a very long time. It's always nice seeing it swooping up and down the drive way every night. As for mosquitoes, I've never been bitten by one. I was an adult before I really knew what a mosquito looked like. Now my poor son is a very different story. They swarm him and try to eat him alive.
Haiku's and poems, blech.
FPD -
Very nice! I love it.
Holy bat crap Batman.
Pollenating, fertilizing, spreading seeds, insect control. These **** bastards are very important to eco-systems all over the world and in parts of Alabama. So get off their backs.
Year twenty-fifty -
B.A. lives on, tombstone reads:
True Gator Hater
That bat crap is valuable - guano. As in Bat Guano - character in Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove
Dawgs whip the Gators
For three years in a row, but...
"Closer than it looks."
Haiku! Took me longer than I will admit.
I love bats. The more bugs they eat the better
Throwing a basketball wayyyy up in the air every night at dusk was one of my favorite hobbies as a kid. Bats would think they were getting a BIGGG mosquito lol.
Go out in the yard with a bull whip and twirl it above your head. Bats will swoop down on it like crazy...
Speaking of Bat Crazy....we attract a few here too.
I LOLed ghost at the same time I was wondering if I was on the list
I’ll never tire of the fruit bats eating flowers in my yard.
