Don't forget about Wyatt. If he can play on an elite level consistently, he's going to be a huge problem for every offensive line we go against.
Agreed but see him as a Marshall replacement and will be getting to the QB or tackling the RB in the backfield.
Marshall is a run stopper. Ledbetter was the hybrid. Wyatt is capable of havoc at the 3T position.
IMO:
Tyler Clark will be our best overall DL in 19. I think he plays himself into the 3rd round.
Jordan Davis will be our most important player on defense in 19. Barnett will be the second most important player on DL.
Herring will make splash plays but if not consistent, Justin Young will start and offer more consistent less splash plays. Later in the season it’ll be curious to see how T. Walker are coming along.
Against power run teams look for starting lineup to be Davis, Clark, Marshall. Spread teams will be Davis, Clark, Herring. Passing situations Herring, Clark, Wyatt/Young.
Wolfpack:
Azeez will start and lead the team in sacks while playing 75% of the snaps during meaningful minutes.
Cox will backup or play opposite.
JJ, Beal, AA, Smith will rotate and see numerous snaps until one of these guys emerges as the front runner. I do believe Grant’s days of being a first half contributor at his position are numbered. After the ND game this group and rotation will be more clear.
Our front seven is great. We have 2-3 playmakers on DL and the Wolfpack is loaded with unproven talent that will quickly prove their worth.
Back to recruiting, @GaboyJHarris , i think you are correct in that Milton and Bigsby look to be the only two of our targets who will publicly commit before the season starts.
If Milton and Tank commit at month-end and December rolled around and Zachary Evans wanted to commit to the G, would we take his commitment?
Asking for a friend.
No
That would be just dandy.
Sad we had to take JUST a high 4-star to go along with our other 5 star RB ;). Rich man problems.
I can’t see ya taking 3 RBs in one class even if the third is Evans. He has his chance, if he doesn’t decide, then that’s on him. Milton and Tank are a great pair to bring in. A 3rd RB will guarantee a portal entry next year or in 2021. Just my opinion
@Denmen185 I've always kinda been on the side of @SoFL_Dawg in regards to Justin Rogers. But you have not relented in your belief that there is a chance.
I'm officially curious how this turns out.
Yea. Would be interesting if we stay on him and Kentucky tanks this year. Mathis on the team doesn’t hurt....the family has been singing UGAs praises after the medical scare. Could be letting him know UGAs is going to be good for him.
Rogers to flip from KY to UGA would have to be for an OG spot only right? Even if he plays a lot of DT in his senior year?
I can’t see why we don’t tell him he can try both. We have the luxury, unlike Kentucky, to develop him for 1/2yrs before we need him. If instant playing time is what he wants then UK can most certainly supply that on a 5-6 win team. We should be able to offer him a chance to compete for DT if that’s the issue. If he can’t crack the guys in front of him on D line in that time then he knows he will make his money at o-line. If he does beat out our D-linemen then we found a diamond.
I think we offer as DT and sell the OG as insurance policy if it doesn't work out. Either way UGA is a better qualification than UK where both lines could way under-perform in 2020-22. May be difference of day1 of the 2023 draft versus day 2 of the 2024.
Did someone say Kelee Ringo update?
