To be fair @texdawg , I think a good portion of people that complain about these think that one of the complaints you’ve listed is true, not all of them.
Edit: point taken,m though, and as a whole I agree. I think our defense is going to be more complete this year, but it was certainly really good last year.
@SoFL_Dawg do you think there is extra pressure with all the big time recruits coming to the classic city for the Notre Dame game? I do think that if we win convincingly, it will be the impetus that gets us to the number 1 class in history. If not...well its anyone's guess. What you think?
Side note: Do you think our RB room is too full and talented to land Evans? Or do you think he's good enough to come in and start over a third year Cook? I think he's just too raw and too freakish to keep out of the top 3. I really appreciate your content!
I realize I get too defensive sometimes but I just have a hard time criticizing players and coaches that are working so very hard.
There is an expectation that some fans have that is simply unattainable.
I see it from a different point of view, which doesn't necessarily make me right. But I realize how very hard it is to do what these guys are expected to do.
Not suggesting we didn't have weaknesses - just that if you add it all up - how were we as good as we were.
Holy cow:
Georgia spent by far the most money on recruiting during the 2018 cycle, according to financial documents obtained by Stadium.
Per that report, the Bulldogs spent $2,626,622 on football-specific recruiting during the 2018 fiscal year. The second-highest spender was Texas, which clocked in at $1,823,307 to land the No. 3 overall recruiting class.
No extra pressure. Our team will be ready to play and the atmosphere will be on fire. These croots don’t care about the score (it does help to win), they want to get a feel for what it’s like playing between the hedges. They won’t see anything close to this game next year on any other campus.
Evans will do what's best for him. He strikes me as the type that feels he’d be the best player in that room anyway and that’s a good thing in this scenario. We’ll continue to shoot our shot, I think it’s 50/50 with TAMU. I’m not nearly as confident as I was on him earlier this year. I read how he’s playing the game and I had more questions than answers.
That said, RB2 is the least important spot left imo for this class. We will have 4 elite players in that room next year. Hell even our 2 walk ons look serviceable. We do not “need” Evans, Tank, Chaney, or Lloyd. If we get one of these guys, numbers permitting, it’ll be the cherry on top literally.
We need our heir apparent center, we’re going to lose up to 3 more WRs, DL is obvious, spot is reserved at CB, we need at least 1 more TE but 2 is ideal because of how physical that role is, and Noah Sewell is a player we don’t have, period. Needs vs. wants.
Agreed, I think secondary set us apart. Only consistently excellent level of our defense last season. Even though we lost Baker, I think we’ll be even better this year.
Credit to Senator Blutarsky for finding this.
Alabama spent a similar amount, somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.67 million as an be seen here:
If I'm reading that correctly, that's for all sports, not just football? Hard to be sure on my phone.
Why does Kendall Milton show as a 4 star on dawgnation.com ? 247Sports Composite shows him as 5 *
Is that just the 247Sports (alone) rating? I see they have him as 4*
Does anyone else read @texdawg posts in a Sam Elliot voice?
It’s Hank Hill for me
I was thinking Boomhauer.
”This dang ole football man, I’m just talking ‘bout moving them sticks and crootin and whatnot. Dang five stars man”
I don’t think there’s any extra pressure. The players aren’t playing the game for the next group of high schoolers to come through the school, they’re playing for their careers. The atmosphere is gonna be popping, I’m about to be a freshman at uga and the thing I’m looking forward to most is student section during ND and I know my classmates feel the same. Nothing to worry about IMO
